On Saturday, Ringnes will recall all of the brewery’s glass bottles of Christmas soda and apple juice that have already been released.

– Ringnes has received 13 complaints out of a total of 13 million bottles produced. Damage to the bottles is visible after opening, it says in a press release.

This includes glass bottles with Dahls and Hamar & Lillehammer Christmas soda, where damage has been revealed to the bottle mouth of some 0.33L shiny glass bottles.

Ringnes Communications Manager Nicolay Bruusgaard says it is very sad that they have to recall our popular Christmas soda products less than two weeks before Christmas Eve.

– We apologize, this is sad and regrettable. It is an amazing product that many have a relationship with and that many will drink at Christmas. Unfortunately, this year it will only be in a plastic bottle, says Ringnes communications manager Nicolay Bruusgaard.

It may be empty on the shelves.

The 13 million bottles were launched on the market at the end of September and October.

– We do not know how many bottles have left the stores, but we do know that they are sold a lot in the last two weeks before Christmas, says Bruusgaard.

With such a large recall, stores are at risk of running out of Christmas soda. The brewery is now working to verify the possibilities of producing more Christmas sodas before Christmas.

– But there is little time, so we do not have the possibility to produce the same amount that we withdraw. But every drop counts, and we hope that as many people as possible get their Christmas soda, he says.

What does this mean for you financially?

– It has not been our objective, we have focused above all on getting information. There are reasons to believe that a comprehensive retirement will be financially significant, but we don’t have an overview of that yet, he says.

“To be prepared”

– For the sake of our consumers’ safety, we have no choice but to recall products that have been bottled in this type of bottle, says quality manager at Ringnes, Olaug Flakne.

The brewery describes the recall as a “precautionary” measure.

– Compared with the large volume of bottles on the market, the scope is very limited. The company still chooses to recall the products that are delivered in the corresponding bottles as a precaution, the brewery writes in a press release.
