This is stated by the International Biathlon Federation (IBU).
All athletes and their support staff will undergo extensive testing before the opening races at Kontiolahti. The first round of testing has so far ended with positive tests in five countries.
On Wednesday night, the IBU confirmed that teams from Russia, Latvia and Moldova have been affected. On Thursday, it was announced that other tests were also positive in the fields of France and Romania.

The IBU indicates that in cases where an infection is detected in the squad or among the supporting apparatus of a biathlon nation, the relevant persons are immediately placed in isolation.
Then the national authorities take over the further processing. Therefore, it is not the international federation that decides what practical consequences a positive test will have for the athletes and the team.
In connection with the Alpine Skiing World Cup races in Levi, Finland, last weekend, the Swedish women’s team ended up in quarantine as a result of a proven crown infection in the team leader. The Swedes still hoped to put the athletes in early, but the Finnish authorities said no.
