He has been injured since mid-January. Today, Adrian Smiseth Sejersted (26) came back strong.
The 26-year-old finished the alpine season in mid-January due to a pectoral muscle tendon injury after a fall in Wengen.
On his return to today’s Super-G in Val d’Isere, Smiseth Sejersted was only beaten by Mauro Caviezel. A tenth separated the 26-year-old Swiss in goal. Thus, he took his first place on the podium.
– I am very moved and I struggle a bit to hold back the tears. Now I hope it lasts for the full, Sejersted tells NRK knowing he has cheered too early on a previous occasion.
The 26-year-old is aware that the “short and easy course” suited him well. Thus, he could fully accelerate to the end.
– I’ve been working on this for so many years. I am moved, proud and very happy.
This is what you dream of as a child and then you manage to get on the podium. It’s very cool.
At the NRK studio, Kjetil André Aamodt was impressed.
– Adrian was technically incredibly nice to see today. If you drive like this for the rest of the season, you can quickly win the ball in Super-G, says NRK expert Kjetil André Aamodt.
– Good to see you finally on the podium. It is one thing that it will be number two, but there is something about the way it does it. It is solid. It is surprising that he is not mistaken. He has more experience and it’s strong to come back after an injury like this and ski so well.
Aamodt is aware that Kjetil Jansrud was also close to a top position until he made a big mistake early in the race.
Jansrud was 0.82 seconds behind Caviezel in goal to sixth place. In the goal area, he was terribly disappointed by the mistake that prevented him from fighting for victory today.
Aleksander Aamodt Kilde made too many errors downhill and was a second behind the Swiss in 12th place.
