WASHINGTON DC (VG) Supporters of the current president of the United States take to the streets to show their support for his accusations of electoral fraud.
Three hours before the demonstration begins, hundreds of Proud Boys, most in bulletproof vests and military clothing, have gathered behind a large truck blocking the road near Freedom Plaza in Washington DC.
– My goal is unity, says the leader of the far-right Proud Boys organization, Enrique Tarrio, to VG.
– That is what we need now, and then we must protest. We have to get away from the phones and go outside. If we don’t like something, we must protest.
The group became world famous in September, when President Donald Trump said “Proud Boys, stand back and be prepared” during the presidential debate against Joe Biden. By then, Trump had been asked to distance himself from white nationalists.

Tarrio estimates that around 10,000 will participate in the demonstration on Saturday. According to the leader, 250 of the members of the Proud Boys will appear.
– Will the demonstrations help change the electoral result that has been released?
– No I dont think so. This is to show support. If Biden wins, Biden wins. So we haven’t done enough and we will learn from that.
Donald Trump’s campaign has gone to court against election results in several states, without having presented evidence of extensive election fraud.
The president has also unfoundedly claimed the electoral victory, where Joe Biden has been named the winner, with a solid majority both in the votes of the people and in the number of voters.
– You must go out
Many of the Trump supporters who have come to Washington to participate in the rally come to Tarrio to secure selfies while VG talks to him.
They congratulate him on the event and many say they admire what he has accomplished.
– It is fantastic that we get to an event that brings together so many people, says Tarrio.
The center of the American capital is very marked by the many visitors to the demonstration that will begin on Saturday at 12 noon local time. The hotels in the White House, which have recently been uncrowded, are now full.
Conservatives don’t usually gather that many people, except at Trump’s election rallies. Now we are full of new energy and we see a more united party and a conservative movement, believes Tarrio.
Apparently unarmed
The Proud Boys describe themselves as a far-right group that promotes white supremacy, racism, and violence. Tarrio has previously denied this in an interview with VG.
He describes the group as “a group of guys who love our country” and who are “nationalists who protect the constitution.”
Watch the interview with Tarrio the last time VG met him in Florida:
– Do you think the demonstrations will be violent today?
– I have said before that our members are very good at self defense. We only bring guns to an event if allowed by city, county and state laws, he responds.
In DC, the law prohibits the group from carrying weapons at demonstrations.
– Today we have no weapons. The demonstration is scheduled to last about four hours. After that we’ll find a bar that we can empty for your precious budweisser supplies; that’s what we’re really good at, he jokes.
