ULLEVAAL STADION (VG) Brøndby is struggling to team up for the Champions League game against Vålerenga on Wednesday. Now the fight is postponed.

– There is too much infection in the Danish team for there to be a match, Vålerenga sporting director Eli Landsem told VG on Monday night.

The games are scheduled for February 7 and 14, 2021. Vålerenga opens at home.

VG spoke early Monday with Brøndby, who thought it would be difficult to complete the match.

– We have four players with a crown, they are isolated. One of the cases was a new Friday. This player has been in close contact with other players. So now we have ten players, including a goalkeeper who is not ill or has been in close contact with the coronapositive, says Dr Lillen from Brøndby. Toben for VG.

Due to crown rules in Denmark, they cannot send junior players to the match, because all youth sports have been canceled. The doctor also says that they have written letters to the Norwegian authorities and UEFA (European Football Association).

– We have asked UEFA what we are going to do many times. But they do not specifically answer what we should do. Most recently at 11.30 today I got an email writing that I should get a reply as soon as possible, says Toben.

– Is it impossible for you to play the game?

– It is impossible. We have written that to UEFA, we don’t have a team, Toben responds.

Vålerenga won the cup final – took “double”: – We can be proud of this

Last week, Brøndby went to Oslo to play the knockout stages of the Champions League with players who should have been in crown quarantine. As is known, the match was canceled a few hours before the start of the match.

Sigrid Heien Hansen cried when Vålerenga became cup champion and took “double Sunday”:

Vålerenga is scheduled to travel to Denmark tomorrow (Tuesday). Sports manager Egil Ødegaard at Vålerenga Football Women will not speculate on whether he thinks the match will be played.

– We prepare as if the game were played. We sent an email to UEFA today (Monday). We have had a good dialogue with UEFA at all times. They probably have a lot to do, but we’ll be asking for feedback soon. We are waiting for an answer, says Ødegaard.

He says he has heard nothing about Brøndby not being able to present teams.

– After last week’s match was canceled and Brøndby’s team is crowned, have the players expressed concern about the match?

– It’s not something I want to get into. We are working for a party that we have known for a long time. We have prepared a trip where we will be by ourselves, with our own bus and our own apartment in the hotel, we will not associate with other people, Ødegaard responds.

Vålerenga secured the first gold in the history of the series: – He is completely ill

Vålerenga coach Jack Majgaard Jensen (47) doesn’t understand how Brøndby was able to send an entire team to Oslo instead of putting players in crown quarantine, and even getting away with it last week. Now he hopes they will not have to play the second leg on UEFA’s reserve dates for the February tournament.

– strange

– It will be terrible, because you cannot go wrong with the letter that UEFA sent to Brøndby. It clearly states what Brøndby will do. If UEFA does not say that he is not allowed to behave like this, it will be strange. In case we still have to play Brøndby in February, we will take that “fight” to the field.

– Do you think it can be with one game and that the canceled one is ready for a 3-0 victory for Vålerenga?

– If there is something called justice, it will be like that.

The commercial manager at Brøndby, Michael B. Espersen, had previously told VG that the club did everything possible to get UEFA to postpone the match against Vålerenga. Espersen says that the message from UEFA was that they had to compete so that the Oslo club did not achieve victory. He believes that the club did not expose others to the risk of infection by traveling to Oslo.
