Now there is football on television again: TV 2 has secured the Faroe Islands’ top football rights.

This confirms the channel’s sports editor, Vegard Jansen Hagen, to VG. TV 2 will show the first 12 rounds, and perhaps more. The start of the series for the Faroe Islands’ top division, Betri deildin, is on May 9.

The matches will be shown on TV 2 Sport 1 and on Sumo. And the channel does not save on dust.

– We put our profiles on it. We will have table advice, analysis, profiles and whatever. All of this, plus Norwegian commentators, will be part of the package. With proper editorial momentum, this can be just as entertaining and fun, says Jansen Hagen.

The Faroe Islands superior division consists of 10 teams:

B36 Torshavn, Strymur, AB Argir, HB Torshavn, IF Fuglafjordur, Klaksvik, NSI Runavik, Skala Itrotterfelag, Vikingur and TB Tvoroyri.

– We hope to help the football audience to get a favorite Faroese team, hums Jansen Hagen.

– This is an offer for those who miss live sports. For those who long for it the most and think this can be a bit of fun to pass the time. In the weeks since the sport closed, there have been plenty of flashbacks, studio streams, polls, and ratings. We talk a lot. This is at least an offer for some stock. A little less conversation and a little more action – that’s the job I hope the Faroe Islands will do for us.

The action was also in search of rights. Jansen Hagen says that, perhaps surprising to some, it was difficult to send photos of Faroese football.

– A little absurd, and it was a race with at least one other Norwegian player. It probably tells a bit about how hungry both sports and the public are in live sports. He also says that many channels are looking for the opportunity.

The news comes after TV 2 secured exclusive rights to the Champions League on Thursday from 2021.

– The fact that we buy the Champions League AND the Faroese league in a week is a good image that we are living in a special moment, says Jansen Hagen.

He also says that TV 2, which has many live sports in a normal season, also notes that there is now a break.

– Of course we notice it, but we are used to sports having breaks for a few weeks and months, so we see it as a break now and realize that at some point there will be a significant delay that will be taken again. . It is going to be amazing and demanding, and we look forward to it.

But right now, Faroese football is on the menu. The first round of the series looks like this:

HB Torshavn – Streymur
Klaksvik – B36 Torshavn
NSI Runavik – TB Tvoroyri
Skala Itrotterfelag – IF Fuglafjordur
AB Argir – Viking

– It’s a lot of fun. There’s football at a very decent level, and some stadium facilities that are fascinating, to say the least, says Jansen Hagen.
