Donald Trump’s doctors agree that the president of the United States can leave the hospital where he has been admitted in recent days.
– I will leave the beautiful Walter Reed Hospital at 6.30 pm. I feel very good. Don’t be afraid of the covid. Don’t let it rule your life. We have developed, under the Trump administration, great medicine and knowledge. I feel better than 20 years ago, he writes on Twitter.
The United States is the country in the world most affected by the coronavirus, measured in the number of infected and dead. So far, almost 7.5 million infected and more than 210,000 deaths have been reported.
Right after Trump’s tweet, his doctors made it clear that he has been fever-free for more than 72 hours. They also stated that the oxygen saturation is now what it should be.
– The medical team has decided that his condition allows him to return home for the rest of the follow-up there, says Trump’s own doctor, Sean Conley.
They also made it clear that the president will continue his treatment in the White House. It includes, among other things, the antiviral drug remdesivir.
– He’s back, says Conley, who also describes the president as a “phenomenal patient.”
After being confirmed infected, Trump first developed a high fever and nasal congestion, as well as unusual exhaustion, according to Conley. The last time the fever was high was Friday. The next day, he was admitted to Walter Reed Military Hospital.
“It wasn’t until after he came back (from Thursday’s newspaper fundraiser. Note) that we asked him how he was doing and found out he was ill,” Conley continued.
VG Special: The outbreak in the White House
Low oxygen saturation
The amount of oxygen in Trump’s blood fell to alarmingly low levels on both Friday and Saturday, according to Conley. Oxygen saturation has dropped to 93 percent, and anything below 95 percent indicates that the patient has a severe or moderate form of COVID-19, not a mild form.
Early Monday, CNN reported that Trump was eager to get out of the hospital and that, according to sources, he feared being hospitalized would make him appear weak.
The outbreak at the White House has dominated the news in the United States in recent days. So far, 17 of the US President’s close contacts have been confirmed to be infected; most recently, press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and two of her staff.
The outbreak was first known when Councilor Hope Hicks became infected. A few hours later, it became clear that President and First Lady Melania Trump had also passed a positive test.
Hit hard
It is not known where the outbreak started. The White House hasn’t given up when Trump ran his latest negative test.
Others who have been confirmed infected date back to Friday, September 25, when, among others, Ronna McDaniel, leader of the Republican National Committee, participated.
Recently, former advisor Kellyanne Conway, advisor Chris Christie, campaign manager Bill Stepien, and personal assistant Nicholas Luna all tested positive.
Several other close associates of Donald Trump, including Jared Kushner, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Vice President Mike Pence, Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, Attorney General William P. Barr, Minister of Labor Eugene Scalia, lawyer and advisor Rudy Giuliani, Health Minister Alex M. Azar, Education Minister Betsy Devos, Foreign Minister Mike Pompeo, Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin, and Defense Minister Mark Wait, they tested negative.
Also his children Ivanka. Donald Trump jr., Eric and Barron Trump.
Trump’s political opponent, Joe Biden, and his wife Jill also tested negative, though the two met for a debate in Cleveland on Sept. 29, two days before Trump was confirmed to be infected.
