The New York Times is strongly warning American voters against the reelection of Donald Trump.

The editorial is designed by a department of the newspaper called “The Editorial Board”, and is composed of 14 editors and writers of the management.

– Corruption. Go to. Chaos. Incompetence. Decay, write the newspaper, in an article titled “Stop our national crisis.”

This comment section does not speak for the entire newspaper, but rather attempts to present opinions based on consensus within the institution.

They write that the reelection of President Trump poses the greatest threat to American democracy since World War II and call the president unworthy of office.

– Unworthy of his position

And the newspaper begins the editorial with a character assassination that has hardly been seen before in connection with a sitting American president.

– Trump’s devastating reign has seriously harmed America at home and abroad. He has abused the power inherent in his office and has refused to acknowledge his political opponents, thereby breaking the norms that have united our nation for generations. It has repressed the public interest in favor of its commercial and political interests. He has shown incredible disrespect for the life and liberties of the American people. He is a man unworthy of his position.

Leading writers write that they do not take lightly attacking a sitting president-elect. They have listed a number of cases in the past four years in which they have revealed what they believe to be the inappropriateness of the president.

– We have pointed out your racism and xenophobia. We have written about their destruction of a system of alliances and mutual international relations that, since World War II, has cost many lives to establish and preserve. We have repeatedly exposed his divisive rhetoric and vicious attacks on his compatriots, they write.

The choice about the future of the country

This is how they comment on the Supreme Court process.

– When the Senate refused to bring the president before the Supreme Court, due to his obvious abuse of power, we advised his political opponents to turn their political rage against defeating him at the polls in the next elections.

The November 3 date could be a turning point, according to the newspaper’s editors.

– This is a choice that has to do with the future of the country and the path that its inhabitants want to follow.

– It will get worse

While the four years with Trump have been challenging for democracy, four new years with him will be even worse, they write.

– Mr. Trump has launched an attack on the integrity of the democratic process. It breaks with all its modern predecessors by refusing to deal with a peaceful transfer of power by implying that its electoral victory is the only legitimate result. And, if he doesn’t win, he’s willing to challenge the vote of the American people in court and even on the streets.

New York Times writers say the massiveness and repetition of Trump’s misdeeds have left people numb and unable to feel upset.

– This is the moment when Americans must rediscover that feeling of outrage, they write and then point to the elections in little more than two weeks.
