Trump fires head of security

In a Twitter message on Wednesday night Norwegian time, it appears that President Donald Trump is firing Chris Krebs.

Krebs was the head of the US cybersecurity agency, which reports to Homeland Security.

– Chris Krebs’ recent statement on security around the 2020 elections was very inaccurate, begins the president, who also points out that he believes there was massive fraud and irregularities.

It refers to allegations that deceased people voted, poll watchers had no access, voting machine errors that shifted votes from Trump to Biden, late votes, and much more.

“That is why Chris Krebs has been fired as director of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency,” Trump wrote.

Twitter has already tagged the posts and writes that the allegation of voter fraud is controversial.

The statement cost him his job

The election has been described as the safest in history and so far no evidence has been presented to support Trump’s accusations. A day ago, the AP news agency published a fact check and it was revealed that the president’s allegations of election fraud had been refuted by various judges, state election officials and his own Homeland Security. Reference is therefore made to the statement that led to Krebs’ dismissal.

The AP also notes that many of the president’s demands across the country have been rejected by the court. Irregularities in the election that will change the outcome have not been proven, and the remaining lawsuits have no evidence that can reverse the outcome, the news agency writes.

There is widespread agreement that Democrat Joe Biden won the election, but since Biden was declared the winner, Trump has maintained that he is the rightful winner if only “legal” votes are counted.

Krebs headed the Infrastructure and Cybersecurity Security Agency (CIAS), which was responsible for data security in elections. On Thursday, CIAS said there was no evidence that the electoral system had erased or lost ballots, or been affected in any way.

– We know that there are many undocumented complaints and opportunities for misinformation about our electoral process, but we can assure you that we have total confidence in the security and integrity of our elections, and you should also have it, said in a statement.

– USA, we are confident in the security of your voice. You should have that too, Krebs tweeted.

Appointed by Trump

Now Krebs tells NBC News that he is proud of the work he did at CISA.

– I’m proud of the team I had. We did the right thing, he says.

He was appointed to the position by Trump in February 2018 and, as the head of CISA, he was responsible for protecting the electoral infrastructure against foreign interference and deception.

Krebs has also been active on Twitter since the election to refute the accusations of illegal cheating.

– In case you missed it: On the allegations of manipulation of the electoral system, 59 electoral security experts agree that “in every case that we know of, these accusations are not confirmed or are technically inconsistent”, wrote him in Twitter hours before Trump used the same platform to announce his resignation.

Repeat statements

This can be crucial

This can be crucial

About 20 minutes after firing the head of data security, Trump takes credit for the fact that the elections were not influenced by foreign actors and, at the same time, repeats the accusations of undocumented immigrants.

– The only sure thing about the 2020 elections was that they were practically impenetrable for foreign powers. The Trump administration gets a lot of credit for that. Unfortunately, radical left-wing Democrats Dominion and others may have been more successful, Trump thundered. Twitter.

Trump has accused technology provider Dominion Voting of eliminating millions of votes, a claim that abounds online as well. The company refutes the allegations, calling them “completely false.” Dominion also notes that Edison Research has denied the allegations.
