With Trondheim the only contender for the Ski World Cup in five years, there was little excitement about where the championship will take place. It is now officially confirmed.
At a press conference organized by the International Ski Federation (FIS), Trondheim was awarded the championship by President Gian-Franco Kasper.
– Thank you very much for the trust you show us. We have been working on this for a while and we can’t wait to start the next phase. We will do what we can to create a party, says Mayor Rita Ottervik (AP) in the broadcast.
The championship has already become controversial. On Monday, VG revealed that the cooperation agreement between the municipality of Trondheim and the FIS was kept hidden from the city council politicians who were going to vote that Tuesday.

Later that week, it became known that the value of the different races is less for women than for men, when VG seized the secret agreement between the FIS and the municipality of Trondheim.
VG commentator Leif Welhaven called the decision “disorderly” and “unacceptable”, and believes it is contrary to the values that should form the basis of the championship.
However, that has not stopped the city from being awarded the championship and, following the award, a large-scale celebration began with the city’s politicians and businessmen.
This is the third time the Trøndelag team has run for the championship, but they lost in 2021 (Oberstdorf) and 2023 (Planica).
Trondheim has hosted the World Ski Championships in 1997.
