“Hi Greta,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau enthused over the phone.
He thinks he’s talking to Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, but at the other end is an actress pretending to be Swedish. Trudeau has been the victim of a joke by the Russian comedian couple “Vovan and Lexus”, but he still does not understand it.
“I understand that you have a lot to do and you don’t have much time to talk to a young girl, but I am very concerned about the growing international crisis,” says the fake Thunberg.
This is followed by about ten minutes of dialogue between the Canadian prime minister and the actress, posing as Thunberg.
The entire conversation with accompanying illustrations has been posted on YouTube.
He expressed fear of war
The customs visit took place in January this year, just after a Ukrainian airliner was shot down in Iran. It was the Iranian authorities who shot down the plane by mistake, write the BBC and The Guardian, who have mentioned the nonsense.
All 176 people aboard the plane were killed in the shooting. 57 of them were Canadian.
It was against this backdrop that the comedy duo “Vovan and Lexus”, whose real names are Vladimir Kuznetsov and Alexei Stoljarov, put Trudeau on the line.
And that may also be why Trudeau was no longer surprised when Thunberg expressed that she was concerned about a possible world war.
“South Park” Characters Mentioned
But many who have seen the video believe that Trudeau should have smelled the wick even earlier than he apparently did, and especially after the fake Thunberg said the following to the Canadian Prime Minister:
“You are adults, but you are behaving like children. We can create a world where there is room for everyone. For blacks and whites. Christians and Muslims. Trump and Putin. For you and me. For Boris Johnson. For Jeremy Corbyn. A Terrance and Phillip, who are also known in their country. “
Terrance and Phillip are two characters from the popular animated series “South Park.” In the series, the two characters are two Canadian comedians with their own television show.
It is unknown if Trudeau did not get the reference to the two characters, but his response was as follows:
– No, that’s exactly, exactly the right perspective.
“Leave NATO”
Trudeau then talks about how he thinks Thunberg’s visit to Montreal in 2019, before the Canadian elections, “helped define” the outcome of the elections.
Then the Thunberg copycat Trudeau interrupts:
Leave NATO. Drop your weapons. Pick flowers. Smile at nature, ”he says.
Trudeau responds immediately:
“I also dream of a world in which soldiers are not needed, but unfortunately we still do not live in that world.”
End the call
In the end, Trudeau seems to have been misled. Towards the end of the conversation, the Thunberg impersonator mentions, again, the two characters from “South Park.”
The actor pretending to be Thunberg simply asks Trudeau if he can introduce him to “Terrance” and “Phillip.”
It is not known if Trudeau recalls those who are talking about the Thunberg copycat, because the prime minister responds that he can try to get his staff to put Thunberg in touch with them.
Then it may appear that Trudeau is whispered in his ear by an adviser and understands what has happened after the Thunberg copycat again asks the prime minister if he thinks a meeting with “Terrance” and “Phillip” is possible.
“Wait, Terrance and Phillip, weren’t you in ‘South Park’?” He says and continues:
“I don’t know them personally. I think they’re parodies of Canadians in South Park, he says.
Trudeau then ends the conversation in a way that both the BBC and The Guardian describe as “polite.”
“Not the first”
For the BBC, Trudeau’s office makes the following statement:
“This is not the first pointless call to a world leader. The Prime Minister declared the conversation to be nonsense and immediately ended it.
And the Trudeau staff is absolutely right.
The “Vovan and Lexus” duo have fooled several world leaders and celebrities with their wild calls. On the “victims” list, Trudeau is in the company of celebrities.
Elton John, Boris Johnson, Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Prince Harry are just a few who were left limping when the Russian comedian couple called.
