Trent Alexander-Arnold replied to Arsenal: –

The right-back was the architect of the first goal tonight, but Liverpool did not give up until Arsenal removed three balls from their own net.

When England manager Gareth Southgate turned Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold down, it came as a surprise to many.

The defender missed the qualifiers against San Marino, Albania and Poland. It is now unclear if the Liverpool star will be part of the England team for this summer’s European Championships.

Klopp confused

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp has spoken on several occasions and believes that the Englishman deserves a place in the national team.

– I didn’t understand the choice. Trent has been one of the world’s most prominent right-backs in recent years, the German told The Guardian, continuing:

– But I respect that Gareth makes his own decisions. I am a manager myself and I make different decisions all the time, there are often decisions that others do not understand.

It’s not uncommon for soccer players to get a lot of criticism if they don’t deliver as expected.

– I have no problem with my players getting some criticism, they can get that from me even if they don’t comply, says Klopp.

But on Saturday, the right-back responded to their criticism and delivered a solid game in a 3-0 win over Arsenal.

– Class displayed

It’s probably not a coincidence. If Trent Alexander-Arnold makes it through the rest of the season, Southgate will likely not leave the defender of the Euro team.

Klopp had the following to say to Sky Sports after the deal against Arsenal.

– He showed class again. I don’t want another discussion about Trent, it was Southgate’s decision.

In the previous England team, Gareth Southgate selected right-backs Kyle Walker (Man City), Kieran Trippier (Atlético de Madrid) and Reece James (Chelsea).

– You are lucky to have so many options for the position. Trained he is in good shape. If someone else doesn’t believe it, I can only say that they are wrong. That’s it, I am not responsible for Southgate’s decisions.

It takes a lot to deliver at the highest level in every match.

– I don’t know of any player who does, but Trent has the potential for it. I know he is a world class player, not just offensively.

– Back

Former Manchester City full-back Micah Richards praised Alexander-Arnold’s goal pass and believes the Englishman has everything a modern full-back needs.

– If you follow him throughout the game, you will see that he is always in these good positions.

The Sky Sport expert believes the Liverpool player is on his way to being in top form again.

– This is what it can produce, Trent has everything a modern backing needs. I was disappointed that he was left out of the national team, but now he is returning to his best level.

There is no denying that Alexander-Arnold has been one of, if not the most prominent, right-back in football in recent seasons.

The 22-year-old has played an important role in Liverpool’s triumph in the Champions League and the long-awaited Premier League title.

If you compare the right-back season to the competition, Alexander-Arnold has more goal points than Walker and James in the Premier League.

Only Atlético de Madrid’s Kieran Trippier has more goals than the Liverpool player this season, but in fewer games.
