In a time of pandemic when we have spent even more hours in front of the screen than usual, it is time to honor television actors. But tonight there will be no red carpet.
For safety, the actors are sitting at home when the generous award will be presented for the 72nd time. But the distribution will take place “live”, so unforeseen things can happen here quickly when 130 cameras are coordinated in 20 cities and 10 countries.
This year’s host, talk show host Jimmy Kimmel, likes to have a lot of balls in the air. And you can put your qualities as a comedian to good use.
No one in the hall
– I have a strange masochistic trait in which I like to put myself in difficult situations. So if the worst happens and everything goes wrong, it will definitely be a part of my fun, he tells the Hollywood Reporter.
Kimmel also doesn’t get any traction from the audience as there won’t be a bite in the room at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
– No matter what happens, it’s okay. It’s just a TV show, I’m not jet flying, he says laconically.
Producer Reginald Hudlin tells CNN that none of them have done anything in such a large format before and compares it all to “trying to watch 130 sporting events at the same time.”
At the same time, it can be cozy and welcoming when the nominated celebrities line up at home, some of them with the family around them.
– Now we go into their houses, says Hudlin.
Others to star in the star-studded digital show include actors Jason Bateman, Sterling K. Brown and Morgan Freeman.
Swedish composer Ludwig Göransson can take another step on his path to EGOT status (when he has won an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Awards), if he is honored tonight by the music of The Mandalorian. So far, he has a Grammy and an Oscar.
