This jury convicted Haaland

– It’s such a big step, like a scandal, wrote Dagbladet’s Morten P after it became clear that Erling Braut Haaland (20) is not nominated for the 2020 FIFA Best Male Player.

Those who, on the other hand, got a place among the eleven nominees, who compete in the somewhat special 0-2-2-7 formation are:

  • Guardians:
  • Defenders: Sergio Ramos and Virgil van Dijk.
  • Midfielders: Thiago Alcântara and Kevin De Bruyne.
  • Attacking players: Cristiano Ronaldo, Robert Lewandowski, Sadio Mané, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Neymar og Mohamed Salah.

Nominated by FIFA

Now it is selected journalists, team captains, team coaches and fans who will vote for the best player between the period of July 20, 2019 to October 7, 2020.

But the selected ones did not get to nominate the players. This is what a professional jury made up of old footballers does.

On FIFA’s own website, it appears that those who voted for those selected this year were:

This is how they played

Article 3 of the regulations establishes that players should only be measured by their performance on and off the court. Team performance or titles should not affect.
