These were the mistakes that led to an avalanche of deaths.

With little clinical knowledge available, doctors had no common guidelines on when to refer patients to a specialist or when to go to the hospital. Since they were not affiliated with hospitals, they had
nor access to contamination equipment.

150 doctors have even died of a crown in Italy. More than 20,000 health workers are infected.

– The region took a long time to provide us with protective equipment. We have ten surgical masks and gloves, says Dr. Laura Turetta from the city of Varese.

“For us with close contact with patients, this was obviously not the right way to protect ourselves,” she says.

The Lombardy Medical Association wrote a letter to local authorities on April 7 pointing out errors in handling the crisis. Key points were the lack of evidence from health personnel, the lack of protective equipment against infection, and the infection data.

Hospitals became a source of infection.

Two days after the first infection was discovered in the city of Lodi, a new case was discovered in Alzano, on the outskirts of Bergamo. In Lodi, the quarantine of ten nearby cities was immediately entered and the hospital’s emergency clinic closed.
In Alzano, a few hours of washing the emergency room were satisfied before they reopened. This became one of the first major sources of infection in Italy.

INFECTION: The emergency room of this Alzano hospital was washed after a patient with coronary infection was discovered there. But it was not enough to prevent the site from becoming one of the first major sources of infection in Italy.

On March 2, Italian health authorities recommended closing Alzano and the neighboring town of Nembro as Lodi had become, but it was not implemented until a week later. March 7, the entire Lombardi region was placed under lock and key.

“If the cities were closed immediately, the infection could have been avoided in the rest of Lombardy,” Dr. Guido Marinoni, head of the Bergamo Medical Association, told Ap.

Criticism of the authorities is being removed by those in power. Local and national authorities owe each other.

Sykehjem- «slaughter»

Lombardy is the most densely populated region in Italy, and also has the oldest average age in Italy. 20 percent of all nursing homes in the country are in the Lombardy region.

While authorities focused on building a field hospital in Milan that was never used properly and on strengthening intensive care, the nursing homes were largely left alone. Hundreds of older people have died in it.
The WHO has described it as a “massacre” of those most vulnerable to the virus.

More than half of the elderly who died in nursing homes in Italy between February 1 and April 15 tested positive or had symptoms consistent with coronary heart disease.

Dozens of nursing homes are now being investigated for crown management. There is particular criticism of a political decision that allowed crown-infected patients to be transferred from hospitals to nursing homes to make room for new patients.

One of the worst cases is a nursing home in Nembro. In the end, 37 of 87 residents died in February and March. The director of the hospital also received a crown and died. None of the surviving residents has undergone crown tests.

Pressure to stay open

Lombardy is the economic and industrial center of Italy, and politically it was probably difficult to close this particular region first.

Unions and mayors in some of the worst-hit cities now report that the country’s largest industrial lobby organization, Confindustria, has put tremendous pressure on the authorities to avoid blockades.

Even after national authorities closed the Lombardy region on March 7, the factories were allowed to remain open to major protests by workers.

It was a big mistake. The situation worsened, says metalworker Giambattista Morali.

It was not until March 26 that the entire industry was closed.

It opens

Since then, there has been an approximate curfew in Italy. Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced on Sunday that the stringent measures, which are among the most radical in the world, will be eased from May 4.

Then many companies, including the construction industry and industry, will be able to reopen. Museums and shops will be open on May 18, while bars, restaurants and hairdressers will have to wait until June 1. But already on April 27, selected companies
resume business.

Schools, on the other hand, will be closed until September, which has bothered many parents. Many believe the message is confusing and that the authorities are not going far enough.

“The much talked about” phase 2 “will actually be” phase 1.5, “says Wolfango Piccoli, who heads the Teneo Intelligence research center, in a sour comment.

Piccoli believes that the very cautious moderation of the measures contains many prohibitions, bureaucracy and requirements for infection control measures that in practice will hinder any activity in companies.

Other commenters note that Conte said nothing about infection detection and the massive tests to detect and isolate coronary infections, which health experts believe is the key to gaining control of the pandemic.
