BUCURESTI (VG) Several players confirm that they have been summoned by the Norwegian Football Association to join an emergency national team against Austria.
After Norway’s match against Romania was canceled as a result of the quarantine of the national team following a positive test by Omar Elabdellaoui.
The NFF is working with an “emergency national team” for the game against Austria on Wednesday, consisting mainly of players who play outside Norway’s borders on a daily basis and who were not part of the original team.
Ferencvaros forward Tokmac Nguen confirms that he has been called up by the NFF. Work is now in full swing to find out if it is practically possible for him to play Austria on Wednesday.
– We sit down and see how we can do things. It’s a little bit complicated. Kinda because I played a game yesterday, and now I struggle a bit with hoarding, and for the crown, Nguen tells VG.
Groningen forward Jørgen Strand Larsen also confirms that he has received a phone call from the NFF. He waits to jump on the roof until the game is confirmed to be played, but says he is ready to play and healthy.

VG knows that his teammate, Kristian Thorstvedt, has also been contacted, as already experienced by TV 2. The midfielder himself does his best to confirm this himself:
VG is informed that the talented Sampdoria midfielder Kristoffer Askildsen has been contacted. He himself answers “no comment”.
Under-21 coach Leif Gunnar Smerud is listed as a likely candidate to lead the team, but did not respond to questions from VG on Sunday.
– I got a phone call from NFF. I will definitely show up if necessary. We’ll see how it turns out, because it’s probably the World Cup in logistics for those who work with it, Sparta Prague defender Andreas Vindheim tells VG.
Odense player Jørgen Skjelvik also confirms that he has been contacted and is ready. Sondre Tronstad does the same.
– They called me. It is fun. They asked me if I was ready. I have also received a clear signal from the club, confirms the Vitesse midfielder.
Håkon Evjen also confirms to VG that he has been called up by the association.
– Yes, they called me. It is nice. I don’t know if I can go yet, but I think it will work. But it has to be tested and planned, so that’s a little way for it to work, says Evjen and continues:
– It would have been incredibly fun, but you should probably be completely calm until it’s safe. I’m not stressing out yet, but it would have been unbelievably cool.
Djurgården winger Fredrik Ulvestad also confirms to VG that he has been called up by the NFF. Ghayas Zahid has become the same. This is confirmed by his agent, Mike Kjølø, to VG. Zahid plays for APOEL every day.
VG is also informed that Union Berlin player Julian Ryerson has been contacted by NFF.
Jens Petter Hauge confirms to VG that he is still at Thon Hotel Storo in Oslo. As he has already been infected with coronavirus before, it is relevant for a possible match against Austria on Wednesday. He doesn’t want to say anything more about the case at this time.
TV 2 has contacted Elfsborg goalkeeper Mathias Dyngeland, who confirms to the channel that NFF has contacted him.
Anders Kristiansen, Belgian Union SG goalkeeper, also confirms that NFF has made a noise.
– Yes, he has been contacted. Very clear if that will be the case. Impossible to say no to that, he tells VG.
On Saturday, Norwich veteran Alexander Tettey confirmed that it is not relevant.
Toulouse stopper Ruben Gabrielsen holds the cards close to his chest for the moment.
– When something is confirmed, I’ll say so, he tells VG.
VG has also been in contact with midfielders Tobias Børkeeiet (Brøndby) and Sivert Heltne Hilsen (Elfsborg), who say they have not been contacted.
There is still no withdrawal that has been officially confirmed by the NFF or if players actually get the go-ahead to travel to Austria.
