On her own YouTube channel, Johaug opens up about how she got up after the doping verdict. She tells Nettavisen that people still don’t believe her story.

In October 2016, it was learned that Johaug had tested positive for the anabolic steroid klostebol. This led to her being banned from the sport until April 2018.

In Johaug’s latest video on his own YouTube channel, he talks about what it’s like to get up again. He then enters the period in which he was banned from the sport after testing positive for doping.

– You sit down and tell the truth, but then you know that people and some journalists don’t believe in you and create their own theories. It’s tough mentally, says Johaug in the video in a conversation with Martine Ek Hagen.

– Some who don’t believe in me

Johaug has always said that he ingested the prohibited substance through an ointment that he used against a wound on his lips. It is said that he received the ointment from the national team doctor Fredrik Bendiksen. Bendiksen later took responsibility for Johaug accidentally ingesting the cream containing substances that are on the doping list.

For Nettavisen, Johaug elaborates on the issue he raised in his own YouTube video and says there are still people who don’t believe his explanation.

– The vast majority believe in him, but there may be some who do not. And then I think some are still on the boat that they’ve always been on, and then maybe someone has taken care of the dog. I choose not to focus on that because that time is up, and the most important thing to me is that I know what I have done. And I feel very safe and good about it, she tells Nettavisen.

– I don’t like my personality

– What do you think of people who are still critical of your story?

– Now I have not received any critical comments about it, but this is really society. You have people who encourage you and treat you well, and then you have people who are negative who don’t like my personality, he says.

Johaug says she doesn’t waste her time on those who criticize her.

– Yes, we are all different. So it’s not something I think about, I just think we’re all different, so we all have our own opinions.

– Do negative comments affect you?

– No, he does not do it. I myself know what I have done, she says with confidence.

Returned in 2018

In April 2018, Johaug had served his doping sentence. During the time he was away, he missed two World Cup seasons and one World Cup and Olympics.

– The motivation in my training was that in the first ski race when I return I will win. And he was going to win the first race of the World Cup. And the first distance in the World Cup that he was going to win, says Johaug in the YouTube video.

When he returned to the World Cup on November 25, 2018, he won the first race he participated in. And after this, she has just kept winning. She won the World Cup in total in 2019/20, and at the WC in Seefeld in 2019 she took home three WC golds.
