On paper, the fight against Hungary meant little. Norway was ready for the semi-finals after the big win against Croatia on Saturday, but the handball girls still finished the main round in style.

– There will probably be an over-ignition on both sides, as it usually is, says Camilla Herrem, who had faith that Denmark would defeat Russia.

– It will be very exciting. They got a comfortable victory over Russia, but we must be prepared. We love playing against Denmark, says Stine Skogrand.

– I think Denmark has a very good team, but we do. And we are looking forward to winning that match, says Heidi Løke.

From the beginning it was clear that Hungary had no chance against the fast Norwegian players. Eight minutes passed before the Hungarians scored their first goal, and at half-time it was 17-9. That was after a game with very good goalkeeping play by Silje Solberg, a good Norwegian defense and several counterattacks.

It gave space to give more time on the field to several of the players who have played little in the European Championship, including 191cm tall Kristine Breistøl. He distinguished himself with three goals from a distance.

– We are off to a fantastic start and I think it’s very positive that more people are trying. Breistøl was raw, Herrem says of the match.
