Donald Trump announced Friday night that his close adviser is infected.
– Hope Hicks, who has worked so hard without taking the slightest break, has just tested positive for the coronavirus. Cruel! wrote in a message on Twitter.
Now it turns out that the White House probably found out about the infection many hours before it was announced.
Hicks is said to have noticed the first symptoms of the virus on Wednesday and some White House employees knew she was infected Thursday morning, CNN, Politico and Fox News report.

When Trump’s closest advisers, Jared Kushner, Dan Scavino, Nicholas Luna and Hope Hicks, went to the event in Minnesota the day before, they weren’t wearing masks.
When Hicks flew home from an election campaign event in Minnesota Wednesday night, she was isolated in a separate room on Air Force One, writes the New York Times. She must have been escorted down the back road.
On Thursday morning, the mood is said to have changed. Several members of the president’s entourage were then seen wearing face masks, which is rare.
Later on Thursday, news of the infection spread to more people in the White House. During these hours, the president’s program continued as planned.
According to the New York Times, his closest advisers hoped to keep the news that Hicks was infected a secret.
Anderson Cooper, a CNN profile, says Trump knew one of his close advisers had been confirmed infected before going to New Jersey. He calls it “irresponsible.”

It remains to be seen whether the president knew that one of his close contacts had been confirmed infected, prior to going to an election campaign event in New Jersey on Thursday afternoon.
Few advisers are closer to Trump than Hope Hicks. She has recently traveled with Trump several times, including for the first presidential debate in Cleveland with Joe Biden on Tuesday.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump tested positive hours after Trump posted the message about Hicks on Friday night.
Bloomberg journalist Kyle Griffin posted a message on Twitter at 02.17 Norwegian time in which Hicks tested positive. The first official confirmation came from Trump himself at 3:51 in an interview with Fox News.

The president also announced it himself on Twitter an hour later.
– It tested positive. I just figured out. It tested positive. She is a worker. Lots of face masks, she wears face masks often but tested positive. Then I went out and they did the test. We’ll see, you know, the first lady and I spend a lot of time with her. So she’s being tested too, Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
In the interview, Trump speculated that Hicks may have been infected by the virus from a supporter.
– He’s a very warm person. She is having a hard time, when the soldiers and the police approach her, she will treat them well. She won’t say “stay away, I can’t be near you”. It’s a very, very cheap disease, says Trump.
