During the investigation, the police have received information that the two victims of the Moelv fire have been involved in a conflict.
Police attorney Sten Floor Nelson in the Innlandet police district confirms to VG that they have received information that the two have been involved in disagreements.
– But I do not want to comment on such details for the sake of further investigation, says the police lawyer.
Early Wednesday morning a fire broke out in an industrial building in Moelv, inland. The firefighters moved to the scene and the extinction work began. A few hours later, a dead man was found among the ruins.
The deceased was sent for an autopsy and the preliminary report indicates that this person is a caretaker who was performing maintenance on the roof of the industrial building when the fire started.
– Don’t think there is more there
On Thursday night, another person was found dead in the ruins of the fire. In a press release on Saturday, police write that the person is a man in his 40s from Gjøvik who was reported missing by the family the day before the fatal fire.
The caretaker and the man in his 40s have a relationship with each other, which is critical to the police investigation.
– The deceased must have known and have a relationship. They are both from the same place, says the police lawyer.
Police used a dog at the scene to search the ruins for people.
– At the moment we don’t think there’s more there. Of course, nothing should be ruled out, but yesterday the search was completed with the dog without it being marked, says the police lawyer.
In the preliminary autopsy report, the time of death for the two men is set for September 30, the same day the fire occurred. However, the police hope that the final autopsy report will provide a very specific time.
The police attorney does not want to answer questions about the cause of death or whether any of the victims suffered external injuries.
During the additional investigation, mapping of the movements of the two victims in the days leading up to the fire and communication between them and with others will be central.
The information will form the basis of a timeline that can help provide answers to the course of events.
– I can’t say anything about when they arrived at the scene, when they were last seen or their movements beforehand, says the police lawyer.
The caretaker who was found dead was in the industrial building Wednesday morning to perform roof maintenance. The second victim of the fire, who was reported missing the day before the fire, has not had any form of connection to the building.
– He has not worked there, has not performed maintenance there or stored anything there, says the lawyer for the police.

The deadly fire in Moelv: investigate if it could have been started
It is currently unclear what caused the fire, but the discovery of two dead people makes police believe they are facing a criminal case.
– We have not found the home, so I can confirm that we still have an unknown cause of the fire. Findings have been made and sent to Kripos for analysis, but it will be time before we get responses to these surveys, says Floor Nelson.
He adds that the area is still cordoned off and that it is being investigated.
– It is a large crime scene, so it will take time to navigate. There are still guards there, says the police lawyer.
