The toughest car of the year: Dagbladet and Dinside

[ad_1]

Best sellers have never risen to the top when they named us the Year of the Year harder car, as part of the Car of the Year award.

In this slightly open category we can find everything from low sports cars to large SUVs. The first year, the Mercedes G-Class beat the Lamborghini Urus and the Audi Q8. Last year, the Porsche 911 took victory ahead of the Bentley Continental GT and the BMW 8 Series.

A new trend

For the first time, we see that the environmental trend also permeates this category. Two out of three candidates are electrified. The Polestar is a rechargeable hybrid with record electric range, while the Porsche Taycan is a fully electric supercar.

It is also a bestseller. Because although it is a dream car for many, it was included in both categories due to the large number of cars sold. More than 1000 rolls on Norwegian roads, and there will be more. Now it will soon be launched in a more economical version with rear wheel drive.

Unanimous

The jury for Car of the Year was in complete agreement. We’re not sure this has happened before, but everyone had the highest-scoring Porsche Taycan when it came to picking the toughest car of the year award. The criteria in this category provide more room for excitement than baggage and practical uses than in the Car of the Year award.

Porsche Norway CEO Morten Sheel is very happy Taycan won the toughest car of the year. Taycan ranked second in the nominations for Car of the Year and People's Favorites.

– We are very proud and happy to win what in our eyes is the most generous prize. We make cars just for the driving experience and design, and it does well in its “toughest” category, says Morten Scheel, CEO of Autozentrum Sport / Porsche Norway.

He also continued to win the Car of the Year

– Porsche Taycan has brought the experience and pleasure of driving to the electric car market by adding 70 years of experience in the manufacture of sports cars, and has been awarded several international awards. Although our car is in a niche that is not normally imposed in competitions where price and practical use are criteria, it is not entirely surprising that we participated and fought.

Selling the times

– We have prepared well, as early as 2015 when it was announced that a car based on the Mission E concept car would be launched, we saw that the potential was great in Norway. In those years, we have expanded with three new dealers and almost doubled the number of employees working at Porsche in Norway. Now our goal is to offer a customer experience also to our new friends at Porsche and to facilitate car-related experiences, says Scheel, who has experienced a formidable sales curve for Porsche in recent years in Norway.

– In 2020, we will deliver around 1,600 new Porsche. Although it only accounts for a little over one percent of the car market in Norway, it will be a record for Porsche. In 2018, we delivered 750 new Porsche cars in Norway, and then it was the Panamera Sport Turismo that brought in additional volume. Although Taycan accounts for the majority of sales, it is very gratifying that we are also selling a record number of Porsche 911s this year, so interest in sports cars is growing in the country.

Who buys Taycan?

– It is not easy to locate the Taycan customer, the diffusion of change cars also says that they come from very different sectors. Interest in cars is common, and many seize the opportunity to make a dream come true when the tax system sets out to go electric. Most are 4S, but we have also delivered a significant amount of Turbo and Turbo S.

New models

– It is official that we have some interesting models underway. Both a Taycan Cross Turismo, which we have high expectations for Norway, and the next generation Macan will be fully electric, so we have a lot of sports cars to offer tailored to the Norwegian automotive market in the future as well, says Morten Scheel.

This is what the jury says

Bard

1. Porsche Taycan. And by that I mean Turbo or Turbo S when we talk about the toughest of the year. This has not been a flawless car either, but Porsche has done something completely new and at the same time kept the Porsche feeling.

2. Aston Martin DBX. British craftsmanship and German engineering at its finest.

3. Pole star 1. It is so amazing to watch. The interior is dated, but the worst is when you start the engine. It does not match the exterior. There is an Amazon engine there. Either there should be a proper V8 engine in there, or a really good all-electric driveline. If he had, he would have won the whole show.

Børre

1. Porsche Taycan. Very beautiful to look at and experienced high quality. Good sitting position and pretends to be what it is. Is complete. When the starting price is just over 900,000, which doesn’t seem much higher than other electric cars today, it justifies a high position. And the sound. And especially when you started to roll slowly it gave good associations.

2. Polestar 1. Although I agree with Bård regarding the choice of engine. But it has a great design and there is something about that carbon chassis car that is good and special. It’s not that raw to drive, but it’s a good grand tourer that’s good for good driving and sitting. 1.7 million crowns is a bit too much.

3. Aston Martin DBX. The price of 3.5 million crowns is too high. Because I don’t think that car is worth it.

girl

1. Porsche Taycan. With such a low entry price, Taycan is suddenly available to many more. It is still an expensive car, but a cheap Porsche. When you deduct fuel costs, the price is actually not that bad. Anyone had managed to drive fast with the Porsche both on the road and on the track.

2. Pole star 1. The car is fantastic to look at, has exciting technology, and is good to drive. But it is not a sports car, it is more of a nice and very strong car along the road.

3. Aston Martin DBX. It’s a really loud SUV, but it’s hard to defend the price.

Steel

1. Porsche Taycan. Because it’s a sports car on a budget. If you’ve saved a little and worked to get it, many Norwegians can buy it.

2. Aston Martin DBX. British craftsmanship and German engineering at its finest.

3. Pole star 1. Great looking on the outside, but it would have been a clear winner if it had a more future-oriented interior and an all-electric drive with power in sight.

Fred magne

1. Porsche Taycan. It is a favorite, simply because the product and the price are a great package. It works like a Porsche, it drives like a Porsche and without compromise.

2. Pole star 1. This is the flagship of the brand, a rechargeable hybrid that is spectacularly built in carbon. It falls a bit on the dated Volvo interiors, and it’s too expensive to pull the longest straw, but it’s a world for a car.

3. Aston Martin DBX. It’s great with a large SUV that doubles as a sports car, but the price doesn’t justify this being the Car of the Year. It’s unattainable for most people, and for most people it’s just a pretty picture on the wall.

Nesheim rune

1. Porsche Taycan. It’s crazy. Porsche has invested heavily in that car to make the best electric car in the world. Uses 800 volts, charges quickly, goes far. I’ve never driven anything else on a dry road that you can go so crazy with and the car just stands there and does what you ask of it. There is nothing better and you can take 4 with some luggage. The sales figures basically say it all. Porsche has never sold more in Norway.

2. Aston Martin DBX. I love the brand, the history and everything they have fought for. It might look a bit homey and it’s not all well thought out, but they’ve gotten great on the chassis and I love AMG’s twin-turbo 4-liter V8 engine.

3. Pole star 1. This is the most beautiful car that has been delivered in many years, although the design was already shown in 2013. The driving characteristics and brakes are good, but the transmission does not work as expected, and that is first and foremost the the way it delivers power, the balance it provides. and the sound of a heavily pressed four-cylinder engine that disappoints.

Different

1. Porsche Taycan. A raw leg of a car. A proper Grand Tour car with incredible acceleration. And it has driving characteristics that match the forces. They have managed to put many Porsche in an electric car.

2. Pole star 1. This is the most beautiful car I have seen in a long time.

3. Aston Martin DBX. It is exaggerated. Only the skin makes it the clear choice. All is tooand it suits you.
