The Oslo City Council announced on February 28 that all restaurants in the capital must be closed due to the contagion situation.
Only take out food is allowed.
The closure is enshrined in section 9 of the Oslo crown regulations.
However, politicians, advisers and journalists this week have been able to enjoy the food sitting at a table in the Storting restaurant.
NTB has also observed the ministers at the tables in the room.
– Treated as garbage
– According to the rules
The Storting claims that the administration has been in dialogue with the business administration in Oslo to ensure that the service is carried out in accordance with the rules that apply.

When NTB got in touch on Monday, they double-checked. Then the Storting management received confirmation that the service offering is in line with current guidelines, says section leader Sissel Kværnes in the Storting’s cafeteria section.
The bottom line is that the serving offer at the Storting is open, but that takeout has been fixed as well.
– The Storting administration takes infection control very seriously and at all times follows the guidelines that have been given to it, says Kværnes in a written statement to NTB.
Opens for exceptions
The dining rooms are not explicitly mentioned in the municipal regulations. The regulations define restaurants as restaurants, cafes, bars, and pubs, and nightclubs such as discos and nightclubs.
However, NTB receives confirmation from the Oslo City Council that restaurant closures in Oslo are also planned to include dining rooms. Therefore, in principle, canteens should only sell take-out food.

But there is an exception:
“The company canteens can also remain open if meals are organized in the office. Where it is not possible to eat in the office or the employees do not have an office, the meal can take place in the cafeteria premises if adequate infection control can be maintained. “
The Business Administration adds that it is the responsibility of the individual employer to ensure that the rules are followed.
