Town Hall: – Understand that people think it is dust
The communications officer of the City Council for Culture, Sports and Volunteers, Beate Svenningsen, says that this has not been a political decision. The Agency for Culture and Sports is behind this.
There, real estate communications manager Haakon Berg Jensen confirms that the sign is about to be replaced.

In an SMS to Aftenposten, the Agency for Culture and Sports, Rina Mariann Hansen (Ap) writes that she prefers the old poster.
– The old sign in Bislett was nice, and I understand that people think it’s dust to replace it. They should have kept it that way, you ask me, writes Hansen.

The font on the sign is not Helvetica, but part of Oslo’s new visual identity.

“We understand that people are reacting to the new source, and we also have no problem seeing that the old source is aesthetically better than the new one,” says Vidar Trædal, manager of the Byantikvaren construction department.

– It is disappointing that they choose to destroy the general expression of Bislett Stadium in this way, says Haakon Riekeles, representative of the Oslo Venstre city council.
He calls the building an important cultural heritage and a source of identity for all of Oslo. Riekeles says he hopes to hear that this is a mistake that needs to be corrected.
– They have prioritized errors if they do not see that this cultural heritage has a holistic profile that is more important than the municipality’s visual profile, he adds.
Riekeles finds it difficult to understand that the antiquity of the city is unaware of the new sign.
– It is very disappointing that the antiquity of the city has that attitude. I myself have been in discussions about window frames that are barely visible in protected buildings. This is a large sign with a letter covering the entire entrance area, says Riekeles.
