Martha Chansley, the mother of Jake Angeli (32), recently appeared on 60 Minutes to talk about her son’s role during the January 6 takeover of Congress.
Many noticed that the “shaman” when wearing fur, horns on his head and the American flag painted on his face, took over the Congress building in Washington DC along with several thousand other people.
The images shocked heads of state around the world, and Angeli was among those who led the mafia into the innermost area of Congress.
In the interview, Angeli’s mother is asked if she thinks her son did something wrong.
– What do you mean “something wrong”? He walked through the open doors and was escorted to the Senate. So I don’t know what’s wrong with that, Chansley replies.
Jake Angeli was arrested after the assault on Congress and is still in jail.
Does not recognize violent action
The mother of the so-called “QAnon Shaman” has previously defended her son’s actions during the uprising, and has repeated false claims that Donald Trump only lost to election fraud.
He does not recognize the violent action that led his son to enter the gates of Congress.
However, when asked to answer the question, he admits that he obviously understands the seriousness of breaking into Congress.
– I understand the seriousness of this, because my son is – you know, he is where he is now. If I could undo it, I would. I know you’re sorry, says Chansley.
Then he repeated that his son walked through the open doors and therefore did nothing wrong.
Support conspiracy theories about elections.
When the journalist pressures Chansley by telling her that the door was only open because an armed group of people overwhelmed the police and entered, she claims that her son was not part of the group.
– Jacob wasn’t part of it, says Chansley.
She says in the interview that she, like her son, believed in Trump’s conspiracy theories about the 2020 election.
– I don’t think it was won fairly. Absolutely not, says Chansley.
Chansley has also previously defended the son from the media.
Right wing extremists
Angeli is from Arizona and is known in her home state as the “QAnon shaman.”
QAnon is an internet cult that emerged in 2017, and its far-right supporters believe that the world is ruled by a powerful elite linked to Satanism, pedophilia, and cannibalism. They count Donald Trump as their savior.
According to Faktisk.no, QAnon has several thousand followers in Norway.
It was when the election results would be approved that congressional riots began in January. First, the rebels broke through the exterior barricades outside the building, before breaking windows and entering the building.
For a few hours there was total chaos on Capitol Hill, and elected officials had to be transported to safety where they lay on the floor wearing gas masks while being guarded by Secret Service agents.
