King Harald and Queen Sonja were quarantined after a court employee was diagnosed with Covid-19.

The employee was confirmed infected Thursday.

The King is in self-imposed home quarantine, while Queen Sonja is in quarantine as a result of close contact with the person in question.

Both are symptom free, the Royal House writes in a press release.

In addition, 14 Royal Court employees are under quarantine.

– The court has routines in accordance with the norms and recommendations of the authorities related to infection control, including the practice of remote regulations, the use of masks, intensified cleaning and hand hygiene, as well as the use of home offices notes the press release.

As a result of the quarantine, the King will address the Minister next Friday by phone from Bygdøy Kongsgård. Crown Prince Haakon has an audience with the President of Estonia.

The Royal House does not want to answer questions about whether tests have been planned or carried out on the royal couple. For privacy reasons, they also don’t want to respond if any of the quarantined employees have developed symptoms.

– As soon as we have some information related to the royal house, we go out with her, says communications manager Guri Varpe at the Royal Court to VG.

This is not the first time that the royal couple have been quarantined. Already in mid-March, the royal couple were quarantined in Kongsseteren, from where the king also spoke with the Norwegian people.

– We do not recognize our daily life or the world around us. And we are still at the beginning of something that we don’t fully know the consequences of, King Harald said in the speech at the time.

He described the crown situation as unreal, alien, and terrifying to all.

By the way, the Norwegian royal house is not the only one that has been affected by the crown. As early as March, it became known that Prince Charles (72), the Prince of Wales, had tested positive for the coronavirus, according to British media.

A press release from Clarence House – that is, the prince’s staff – stated at the time that the prince had mild symptoms and was otherwise still in good health, according to Sky News.

However, shortly thereafter, Prince William is said to have tested positive for the cornona virus as well, according to the BBC and The Sun.

While the BBC does not go into detail about how strong symptoms Prince William had, The Sun writes that William, among other things, had respiratory problems but did not want the royal family to come out with the diagnosis at the time because he wanted to avoid creating unrest.

But neither William nor his father were the first royals to be diagnosed with a corona infection at the time. Just over a week earlier, it became known that Prince Albert of Monaco (62) was infected.

At the time, Prince Albert and Prince Charles had met at a charity event two weeks earlier.
