(Manchester City 1-1 Liverpool) Liverpool’s defensive line is getting thinner. In the intense draw against Manchester City, Trent Alexander-Arnold (22) had to leave injured.
Penalty Kicks, Penalty Kicks, Beautiful Attacks and VAR Drama. The big game at the Etihad Stadium had it all, and for the neutral spectator, the duel between the giants Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp was, as always, interesting.
– It was an interesting match with many tactical aspects. Both teams played with fantastic energy. It was a really good match, says Jürgen Klopp, who voiced his support for Ole Gunnar Solskjær and his tirade against the tight match schedule.
– I have spoken to the Premier League. Neither team should have a kick-off at 1.30pm on Saturday after playing a game on Wednesday night. The Premier League needs to make changes. Sky Sports, BT Sports, everyone needs to talk to each other.
The match ended in a draw after goals from Mohamed Salah and Gabriel Jesus, but the match cost the current league champions a lot.

On a rain mat in Manchester, Liverpool again suffered muscle injuries.
Important man out
Already injured Liverpool, who are missing Fabinho and Virgil van Dijk, received a new name on their ever-growing disabled list. Trent Alexander-Arnold had to be substituted in the second half after running what seemed like a stage.
Klopp had nothing new to report on the right-back injury.
It is currently unknown how serious this is, but at least there is no doubt that Liverpool do not need further injuries.
The game was just over an hour old when Alexander-Arnold counted, received treatment and a few minutes later threw in the towel.
Offensive opening
Liverpool got off to the best start at the Etihad, and even before the minute was played, Jürgen Klopp’s four forwards with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané, Roberto Firmino and the fiery Diogo Jota had created problems for City.
Manchester City looked defenseless in the opening minutes, both offensively and defensively. Liverpool were completely superior early in the game, and it wasn’t long before the visitors’ dominance paid off.

Mané tricked Kyle Walker, who awkwardly put the Senegalese on the ground. Judge Craig Pawson didn’t even need a VAR, and he aimed cash at the penalty spot. Mohamed Salah stepped forward and threw the ball to Ederson’s right.
Lack of rare penalty
Manchester City tied after a brilliant attack. Criminal offender Kyle Walker found Kevin De Bruyne in a dream position, in space with room to turn. He got the ball and did exactly that and played up to Gabriel Jesus. He maintained a twist that has been compared to the twists that Dennis Bergkamp and Romario used to enchant viewers with.
Trent Alexander-Arnold was duped, and Jesus passed the ball to compatriot Alisson after a City attack with 19 passes.

Shortly after, City received a controversial penalty. De Bruyne’s post attempt went through Joe Gomez’s arm, and after a VAR control, a penalty was awarded.
– Joe runs towards his own goal. What will you do with your arms? It is very difficult for defenders. “I think it was strict, but people will naturally say I’m not objective,” Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson says in an interview that aired on TV 2 after the game.
De Bruyne, normally confident, lined up and incredibly knocked the ball out of goal.

It is not an everyday meal in the Premier League. The Belgian is according to the statistics provider choose the first to miss since October 2018, when Riyad Mahrez missed from Manchester City’s penalty spot against Liverpool.
In the photo gallery below, you can see how Alisson reacted to the rare penalty miss:
“Anyone can win”
Liverpool had a chance to seize the top of the table in the Premier League, but on Sunday there was no new league leader for the third time. Tottenham held the top spot for a couple of hours, before Leicester took over.
The Foxes will be on top for a while as there is now a national team break waiting. Leicester is the point ahead of Spurs and Liverpool.
And now former Premier League player Robbie Savage believes that the golden match in the 2020/21 season is wide open:
“After the second round, you have to say that Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester, any of these teams can win the Premier League before Liverpool or Manchester City,” Savage told BBC Radio 5 Live.
Manchester City, meanwhile, is in eleventh place with its twelve points.
– We play at home and we have to win our games here. The result is not good for us. Maybe it’s good for them, Gabriel Jesus told Sky Sports after the game.
