Every time Karianne Kopperstad milked the cows at “The Farm,” she thought of her grandmother. In 2020, the surprise message awaited her that she had passed away.

For many of the “Farm” contestants, it has been a relief to return to normal life in 2020.

But for Karianne Kopperstad, the reality was a little different than when she entered the farm.

– I lost my grandmother while I was on the farm. It was difficult to get that message across, he says.

VG talks to a clearly touched Kopperstad on the phone. On the television screen, he has expressed several times that his grandparents were one of the main reasons he wanted to be on “The Farm.”

– I was finally able to understand how my grandparents have lived and should soon talk to them about it.

But that was not the case.

It was the same day that Kopperstad won the duel against Inger Cecilie Grønnerød (47), that the grandmother fell asleep peacefully.

But they didn’t tell him anything until he got back from the farm.

– He had an agreement with the family that if something happened, he would not know until he returned.

The grandmother had begun to lose some memory and appetite for a long period before Kopperstad continued with “The Farm.”

– But I didn’t think I’d lose her while I was on the farm.

– I’ve tried to cry in my own way, and it’s been good to be open about it.

He speaks of a close relationship with his grandparents, who have lived a stone’s throw from his own home in Fosnavåg.

– They had so many cows, and Grandpa always bragged to Grandma that she was so good at milking.

Every time he milked the cows on the farm, he thought of his grandmother.

– I think she’s very proud of me. As I have told many, she was with me there, she says.
