Doctor, researcher and entrepreneur Ugur Sahin is now on the list of the 500 richest people in the world, albeit 49th.
This corresponds to around NOK 44.6 billion.
The huge growth of the stock has increased Sahin’s wealth by more than NOK 12 billion over the past year.
According to the Minister of Health, vaccination in the UK will start next week.
Pharmaceutical companies Pfizer and Biontech also recently requested urgent approval for the vaccine from the US FDA.
It could potentially make it possible to vaccinate at-risk people in the United States in mid-December this year.

The couple behind the vaccine
Together with his wife Ozlem Tureci, Sahin founded the pharmaceutical company Biontech, which has now become what could be the first successful coronavirus vaccine.
The couple founded the German company Biontech in 2018.
Sahin is the company’s Tureci CEO and Medical Director. Together they are among the 100 richest people in Germany.
Biontech is collaborating with the pharmaceutical company Pfizer and the vaccine is popularly called the Pfizer vaccine.
The two companies have previously reported that their vaccine has shown 95 percent efficacy against the coronavirus.
