Jan Erik Brodahl (62) met Zeina (42) on Tinder in Lebanon. On Wednesday they were married.

Almost exactly a year ago, VG wrote that last year’s profiled “Farmen” contestant Jan Erik Brodahl was planning a wedding with his Lebanese girlfriend, Zeina.

On Wednesday they said yes in a brief session at the Oslo City Hall, where VG was also present.

– It is absolutely fantastic! We’ve been waiting for this for a while, we were actually going to get married in January, but because of the crown it’s been an awfully long delay. But now it’s really good, she tells VG after Wednesday’s wedding.

Do you remember this? Erik Rotihaug won “The Farm” last year:

– It feels good. I’m pretty upset, but I think it’s probably pretty normal, adds the “Farm” contestant’s brand-new wife.

Brodahl doesn’t hide the fact that he thinks the bride looked fantastic on the big day.

– It looks absolutely beautiful. Really. I am a lucky man.

– I’m lucky that I am too then, says Zeina.

When VG meets the two at the town hall on Wednesday morning, they say there will be a quiet celebration in Norway and the official wedding celebration will take place in Lebanon.

Wednesday brings “just” a dinner in a Lebanese restaurant. However, on November 7 they return to Beirut.

– There we have about a hundred guests, a pretty big party. It will be the whole family and many friends, says Zeina, before Brodahl, with a smile, adds:

– I don’t have anyone there and I’ll be alone. But it’s okay.

Last year, the 62-year-old Brodahl, a former UN official, told VG last year that he met Zeina just over three years ago through the check app Tinder.

– I was in Beirut, but then I traveled to Crete for a week. When I got back, I contacted her and then we made an appointment to meet. We met and he said bang right away. It was a wonderful meeting and since then we have been inseparable. It was a full flap from the first second, he said at the time.

– How did you get engaged, Jan Erik?

– In Lebanon it’s a bit old-fashioned. I went home with my mother and father to ask about their hand. It ended in a little celebration and I promise you I was more nervous then than now. But it worked out well, they were incredibly kind and very happy. It went so well that we are here today.

The wife has no doubts about what is the best of what her Norwegian husband is now.

– This is how he takes care of me. He’s always there for me and he’s good at listening. But don’t hesitate to ask me what’s the worst …

– So what’s the worst?

– He’s not that good at opening up completely. And then he has a big ego and a kind of arrogance. If he knows he made a mistake, it is almost impossible for him to admit it.

– Is that right, Jan Erik?

– Haha, no, I think it’s about maybe we are a little colder than the Lebanese. They can often have a high temper and go straight to the ceiling in a second. For us, it often takes a little longer before we turn on. And then I have also lived in “a man’s world” for so long. That’s how I am.

Zeina has a kindergarten in Beirut and the newlyweds have not yet fully decided whether to settle there or in Norway.

– We may be trying to combine it a bit, says Jan Erik Brodahl to VG.
