That is why Hitra is entering a bandage order outside.

For at least a week from today, a separate regulation will apply for the use of bandages outdoors in Hitra.

The regulations, which have been introduced by the municipal chief, state that there is a requirement for the use of masks indoors in public spaces and outdoors in densely populated areas.

Mayor Ole Laurits Haugen tells Dagbladet that the new bandage order will be introduced after the municipality has experienced a flourish of infections.

– We introduce this briefly and well because we have a confusing situation when it comes to the spread of infection and bandages are a preventive measure that is recommended in a situation as uncertain as ours, says Haugen.

– Fear of infection

Outdoors, the order applies in densely populated areas, such as Christmas markets, the municipality indicates.

– Why do you want people to wear face masks, for example, at Christmas markets?

– Because it is a place where there are large concentrations of people and we fear that the infection will easily flow between them.

– Is fulfilled?

– So far it looks like this.

– Do you have a Christmas market in Hitra?

– No, not specifically, but we have some means, which may be similar, says Mayor Haugen.

– Used wisely

Haugen says that so far he has only received positive feedback on the new order.

– I realize that there are discussions about the sense of wearing a mask, but at the same time I feel that it is recognized worldwide that it has a preventive effect, says Haugen.

The new order is initially applied until December 28 inclusive, but can be extended by a week.

The mayor emphasizes that the new order must be used with discretion.

– So you don’t need to use it on a ski trip?

– No, he must be able to walk in the field without a bandage. Here, everyone should use common sense, he says.

Concern

Yesterday, 7 new cases of infection were detected in Hitra. A total of twelve people have tested positive since Thursday.

– So far, no new cases have been reported today, but we are waiting for new results throughout the day, says Haugen, who says that the new boom has scared the inhabitants.

– There is a lot of concern and uncertainty here, he says.

Yesterday’s confirmed infected are close contacts of those who were confirmed infected Thursday and Friday, according to NTB. All the first infected people worked in the Lerøy fishing group, while the new cases consist of both close contacts internally in Lerøy and private contacts.

– Infection cases also have ramifications throughout the founding community and therefore it is a huge challenge for all of us, not least for the many municipal employees who are in action to test and trace, says Mayor Haugen.

– Work is now in full swing with tracking infections, says the mayor, who says he wants to repeat the following:

– Now everyone must take responsibility, think about their own responsibility and be careful.

Hitra is a municipality of Trøndelag and lies south of the entrance to Trondheimsfjorden.
