The fan who on Sunday made racist calls against Amahl Pellegrino (30) of Kristiansund after the game against Aalesund has been expelled from Color Line Stadion until the 2021 season.

Aalesund states in a press release that they have identified the person after reviewing the available material.

Pellegrino said after Sunday’s game that there was a group of fans who stood behind the goal and shouted “monkey” and applauded against him. It must have been repeated several times. See how he reacted in the video at the top of the article.

– At Aalesund Football Club we have taken the matter very seriously. We do not want opponents, our players, spectators or others to experience racism in the Color Line Stadium or in other arenas, says the club’s director in Aalesund Geir S. Vik.

The exclusion takes effect immediately. Vik says that the follower has apologized for the incident.

This is how Pellegrino himself reacts to his Twitter-konto after the sentence was announced:

Pellegrino tells VG that he has always been concerned that it wasn’t just one person who called him.

– First of all, I think they should re-analyze the situation to find out who these people are, he says.

– What I heard in the field was a group of people shouting “monkey” and clapping in the middle. I didn’t find out about the TV 2 video posted by the person who yelled “Damn monkey” until I got on the player’s bus after the game.

Pellegrino himself posted a new audio clip on his Twitter account Wednesday afternoon:

The actual length of the sentence does not bother him much.

– If they feel like five elite series and 15 OBOS matches are enough, then they’ve probably set the standard there, he says.

– Do you think NFF should get involved and perform here too?

– Well … If we get rid of those things here, I think so. They can put their foot down and show that this is not right. We say that there is zero tolerance for racism in football. Now we have it in our faces and we have the opportunity to show that we mean it, the 30-year-old responds.

For Eurosport, Aalesund has responded to Pellegrino’s reaction after the announcement of the sentence:

– Each individual case must be viewed in isolation. Otherwise, I have no comment beyond what is stated in the press release, says Vik.

It also says the sanction is based on the club’s stadium regulations and advice from the Norwegian Football Association.

NFF confirms that Aafk has contacted them about the case.

– NFF has been clear all along that the reaction to the fans and a possible exclusion and the duration of the same is a decision that the club itself must make. It is not uncommon for clubs to contact the NFF when faced with demanding cases, where they often want more information and advice on, for example, the procedural aspects of proceedings in independent judicial bodies of the NFF, Yngve Haavik, NFF communications manager tells VG.

He says the NFF has given advice and information on how the case could be handled, but has not given advice on the club’s reaction to the fan.

– That is not the role of the NFF. Our role is to handle cases in the judicial bodies of the NFF. The status of this specific case is that it will be considered by the NFF impeachment committee.
