Many people are surprised to see Bjørn Erik Bergan driving his 18 meter long truck.
Two years ago, he was seriously injured after a work accident. Bjørn Erik was just going to fix something on the roof of the truck, but he slipped and fell four meters.
– I don’t remember anything about the accident itself, everything is black. When I woke up, the doctors told me I had a broken back, skull, shoulder and several ribs, Bergan says.

The accident left Bjørn Erik paralyzed from the waist down and, at age 26, had to learn everything all over again. Despite the serious injury, he quickly decided to return to the driver’s seat of the truck.
– The goal is to make it as if the accident had not happened, except that I am now in a wheelchair, says Bergan.
Found new solutions
In June, the specially made truck was ready and Bjørn Erik was finally able to start work again.
Using a lever on the right side of the seat, Bjørn Erik can do what his legs normally do, accelerate and brake.
– It is not much different from normal driving of a car, but most people cannot understand how it is possible to drive a truck when lame, says Bergan.
Therefore, he decided to document his new daily life by posting videos on Instagram. In a video, Bergan shows how he gets on and off the truck.

– It took off completely
The goal of the videos was to show friends and acquaintances how he worked, but it wasn’t long before the video was captured and shared on both Instagram, Facebook and Tiktok.
– I still don’t understand how it happened, but the video has been seen and shared around the world, says Bergan.
The video has more than 49 million views on Facebook and has also been viewed around 20 million times on Tiktok and Instagram.
People all over the world now praise Bjørn Erik for his determination and courage.

– Never give up
Bjørn Erik’s girlfriend Venja Nilsen says she was shocked when she heard how many people had seen the video.
– It has completely taken off. At first, I think it was completely sick that the video had a million views, and now it’s over 40 million, says Nilsen.

She is incredibly impressed with all that Bjørn Erik has accomplished after he got injured.
– It is very admirable that he is already out full time. He has tremendous willpower and refuses to allow disability to prevent him from doing what he wants. He never gives up and that’s why I fell in love with him, says Nilsen.
