STAVANGER (VG) (Viking – Strømsgodset 2–2) Strømsgodset headed for victory, but in overtime Yann-Erik de Lanlay tied and secured the points in Stavanger.

Strømsgodset led 2-0 with a quarter of an hour to play, but Viking came back and scored two goals, the last in extra time by Yann-Erik de Lanlay.

– It’s so stupid. It is not a good feeling. It has happened to us several times this season, and it is a worse feeling than losing, says Johan Hove to VG after the match.

– Of course it’s sad to lose it in the end. We have opportunities to increase and, in fact, we are in full control. Then we give them a chance, and then it ends 2-2, sums up Strømsgodset coach Henrik Pedersen for VG.

Thus, Strømsgodset’s series continues with a draw, which now has five games in a row.

As Start won three points against Haugesund, the distance is only five points to the Kristiansand club in the standings.

– Will it be this fall to avoid the decline?

– It looks like this now. We have to work to get the points we need, but at the same time they don’t stress us out. We have played several games that we should have won now, so he will probably relax soon, says Hove.

For Viking, the winning streak ended, which was halted at five consecutive victories. The no-loss series is now eight games.

– I find it impressive that, after the start of the season we had, we have not lost for eight games. I am brilliantly satisfied with that, Viking coach Bjarne Berntsen tells VG.

Took the initiative

After a docile first half, Strømsgodset came out with a lot of energy in the second and pushed Viking high up the field. Within eight minutes of entry it paid off.

Nico Mickelson won the ball at the top of the field and played Hove. He took the ball forward, before playing wonderfully through Lars-Jørgen Salvesen. He released himself and threw the ball into the net.

After two straight 0-0 games for Drammen’s guests, this was actually the team’s first goal in 264 minutes.

The fourth before the end, Hove doubled that lead after a big attack. Salvesen struck in front of the goal, where Kristoffer Tokstad jumped over the ball. Iven Austbø wondered, and Hove put the ball into the open net.

– We never give up

– It reminds me of several goals I have had this season. We fill the box and complete the race. When it comes to me in the back, I find it easy to put it on, says Hove.

But the Viking did not give up, and just minutes later Viljar Vevatne nodded in the reduction. In extra time, De Lanlay assured that there was a point for each of the teams.

– That says it all about the team’s morale and the will that characterizes us. We never give up, even if it seems heavy, and we were rewarded for that today, Berntsen says.
