Stop working on January 1

With over two billion users worldwide, Facebook-owned WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging services in the world.

Now, Australian website News18 reports that the service from January 1 will require at least iOS 9 or Android 4.0.3 on the phone if you want to continue using the app.

Of course, it won’t be a problem if you have a more recent dated phone, but for example it will mean that iPhone 4 owners will no longer be able to use WhatsApp, where Apple stopped updates on iOS version 7. model or iPhone 6, you need to make sure it is updated to at least iOS 9. The same applies, for example, if you have an iPad 2, which came with iOS 4, but can actually also be updated to version 9.

Also, older Android phones with an Android version lower than 4.0.3 will be excluded. If you are not sure which version of the operating system you have, it will find it if you open it settings, scrolls down to «On the phone» and he finds out android version on the next screen. By the way, Android 4 arrived in 2011, so this limitation will probably be a problem for very few.
