Swedish ski star Charlotte Kalla (33) has been diagnosed with the coronavirus.

Writes the Swedish Ski Association in a press release.

– I feel better today and am still optimistic about recovering quickly, Kalla says in the press release.

– The focus now is that Charlotte will recover and we will follow the course of the disease day by day. We make an additional decision about training and competition based on medical facts and reasons. We’ll see how it goes over time, says national team doctor Per Andersson.

The Swedish skier developed symptoms of the virus on Monday. The association later wrote in a news release that he had developed cold symptoms, headache and mild fever. She was immediately isolated and tested.

News came in Wednesday afternoon that the test came back positive.

Sweden’s national cross country team meets in Bruksvallarna. It is the beginning of the Swedes before the premiere of the season. No other Swedish runner has reported symptoms. Kalla has not been in contact with either of them since the Swedes’ previous meeting in Vålådalen, according to Monday’s press release from the Swedish Ski Association.

The first game of the Swedish season in Bruksvallarna is in just over two weeks. The World Cup begins in Ruka, Finland, on the last weekend of November.

Kalla has been one of Sweden’s best skiers for the past 10 years, but has left two difficult seasons behind with weaker results.
