Research and Higher Education Minister Henrik Asheim, who is currently also Acting Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, warns of galloping spending in the public sector when he visits the Stavrum & Eikeland podcast.
– We must have private actors. If not, we have a class divide in elder care, says Asheim.
Half of all Norwegians now live in the public sector; almost 360,000 receive disability benefits, almost 1 million are retired and almost 900,000 have their daily job in the public sector. Public spending is galloping and for Stavrum & Eikeland the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs is answering how long it can continue and how it intends to reverse this upward trend.
Asheim further says that many Norwegians with higher education would have a hard time getting a job in other countries, about why we don’t have world-leading educational institutions in Norway, and about what education they would take now.
He is one of the favorites to take over the leadership presidency at Høyer after Erna Solberg when she abdicates. What will Asheim’s Norway be like with him as prime minister?
This and much more at Stavrum & Eikeland. You can also listen to the podcast on Apple and Spotify podcasts.
