Ekstra Bladet, BT and Danish TV 2 are among the many outlets spearheading the news that Ståle Solbakken has ended up at FC Copenhagen.
– It is safe to say that the news of Ståle Solbakken’s kicks on Saturday morning has caused a stir in the Super League, BT writes on its cover.
They refer, among other things, to various reactions on Twitter, including from former FCK profile Jesper Grønkjær.
Ståle Solbakken has been fired from FC Copenhagen
– Thanks Ståle. You were an inspiration in our time together. You raised @FCKobenhavn to a level no one expected. Great motivator, tactical acumen, demanding and a fantastic face on the outside for the Super League and Danish football. Good luck Ståle, write on Twitter.
The kick is shocking
The newspaper further writes that several are surprised that FCK has decided to fire Solbakken because the Norwegian is the most successful coach in the Super League.
Former BT sports editor Morten Crone Sejersbøl writes the following:
– Ståle Solbakken fired exactly two months after FCK played the quarter-finals of the Europa League. No coach has been more successful at the Danish or European level. It is exciting to see who thinks the board can live up to such merits, he reports.
It’s a sad day for Danish club football, Ståle Solbakken has been sacked by FC Copenhagen. He has been responsible for so many good things in his many years in Denmark and we will miss him. pic.twitter.com/Fo1fi8BAPt

Danish goalkeeper legend Peter Schmeichel thinks Solbakken’s kick is just sad.

Jesper Grønkjær disagrees with the decision to fire the popular coach.
– I do not like. That’s probably also the reason why my instinct never said that I should continue in the inner circle of a football club. I think it is difficult and I get too emotionally involved, writes Grønkjær, who is now a football expert on television. On twitter.
Ekstra Bladet has the Solbakken news on its cover. They write that the deserved coach must leave because of the bad start to the season. The same goes for Danish TV 2, which warns that they will follow developments throughout the day.
Do I have an attitude? He’s still too shocked to see logic and put words to it.
Do we have a transmission? Yes, heck. Ready this afternoon.
But the brain needs oxygen before anything can be said about the gifted.
I never thought I’d use that word about sports, but I’m in shock– Peter Brüchmann (@peterbruchmann) October 10, 2020
Suksessperioder
Solbakken first joined FC Copenhagen as a coach in 2006 and managed the club for almost six years before moving to Cologne. Solbakken had previously played for the Danish club in a meager season. He ended his career at the Danish club after suffering a cardiac arrest during training.
Solbakken was sacked in Cologne at the end of a tough 2011/12 season. He later coached Wolverhampton without success, before returning to Copenhagen in 2013.
There have been three league golds, three cup golds and group matches in the Champions League in the last period. However, the results this fall have not been good enough.
Solbakken’s assistant Bård Wiggen has also ended up at the club. Hjalte Bo Nørregaard has been appointed interim coach.
