Soccer, Sports | Shameful defeat at home for the meek Real and Martin Ødegaard

Martin Ødegaard managed just over 25 minutes on the pitch with Real Madrid on Saturday. The great Spanish club lost 1-2 in a frustrating home game against Alavés.

The defeat is a serious blow for Real, which is losing ground to the best teams. Even the leader of the League, Real Sociedad, there are now six points, and Atlético de Madrid can be nine points behind with a victory in their hanging match.

The Real stars came under heavy pressure from Alavés on Saturday. The guests arrived at the Santiago Bernabéu with a perfect battle plan, where it was clear that they would never give space to the Real’s star gallery to unfold.

The visitors also had a perfect start to the game when Lucas Pérez shot a penalty after a hand in the Real area in the fifth minute. Then Alavés closed again. Joselu made it 2-0, before Ødegaard was replaced after an hour.

A corner from the Norwegian ended Casemiro, who was able to put the 1-2 five minutes before full time. It unleashed a final sprint, and five minutes after extra time, Isco shot off the crossbar, but still ended in a bitter defeat for Real.

– We fight, we try, as we must. They entered the game better than us and got their goal. We had a lot of chances after that. I don’t think it’s about concentration or attitude, we gave it our all on the pitch. These are important points that we are missing here today, Casemiro said in an interview that was shown on Strive.

“This is the toughest league in the world,” Casemiro said.

New hazard injury

Real players screamed at penalty kicks several times after failing in the first half, but each time they were quickly dismissed by the referee.

In one of the situations that could have given Real a penalty, Eden Hazard received a blow that forced the great star to get off injured after half an hour of play. Thus, the Belgian’s difficulties with the Real shirt continue.

Zinedine Zidane’s hiatus did not seem to give the desired effects. Instead, it was Joselu who was able to give Alavés 2-0 just four minutes after the break.

The Real players grew increasingly frustrated throughout the match and were unable to return to the match. Alavés received a gift!

Real seemed unmotivated and otherwise safe from the ball players like Luka Modric hit the ball over and over again. At the same time, Martin Ødegaard sat on the bench until there were 67 minutes remaining.

The Norwegian, as usual, was safe with the ball, but failed to turn the game around. Ødegaard assumed the role of Real’s set pieces finisher, and in one of his corners Casemiro reduced to 1-2, but did not last.

Six in a row for Atlético

Atlético de Madrid, meanwhile, achieved their sixth consecutive 1-0 victory in the League over Valencia. But it took an own goal at the end of the game to give the victory this time.

Atlético is thus in the same score as the leader of the Real Sociedad League (23 points), but has a less played game. However, Saturday’s victory was far from over.

Only in minute 79 came the redeeming goal when Valencian Toni Lato put the ball into his own goal after a cross from Yannick Carrasco. The ball went into Lato’s leg and into the goal through the post.

– Luck is also something that sometimes compensates for something. It is always difficult to play here, so we are happy with the victory, said Carrasco.

Atlético are the only undefeated team in the league and have not lost in the series in 25 games. On Tuesday awaits a decisive match against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

– Everyone knows that we are only thinking about the next game. We have a great game ahead of us and we need a good result, said coach Diego Simeone.
