Three players from the French soccer club Paris Saint-Germain tested positive for the coronavirus. According to L’Équipe, the superstar Neymar is one of them.
The renowned sports newspaper writes this Tuesday afternoon that the three infected are Neymar, Ángel Di María and Leandro Paredes. This has not been confirmed by the club, and the newspaper does not cite a source for the information.
According to L’Équipe, infected PSG players will now be quarantined for a week. All three are said to have been on the holiday island of Ibiza after the Champions League play-offs in Portugal, as were several of the club mates. Currently, the spread of the virus in Ibiza is high.
On Monday, the club said it suspected that two players were infected with the virus. On Wednesday, PSG confirmed that three players are infected.
– All players and support staff will continue to be evaluated in the coming days, the club says in a statement.
The news of the crown cases comes a week and a half after PSG played the Champions League final against Bayern Munich and lost 1-0. Several of the major French clubs have had cases of infection in recent weeks, including Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Nantes and Montpellier.
PSG are scheduled to start the league season on the road against Lens on September 10. French league rules say matches can be postponed if a club contracts four cases of infection in the eight days leading up to the match.
