The current protocol for training and soccer matches states that healthy participants should not be evaluated in advance. Now this can be changed.

The Norwegian Football Association (NFF) writes in the latest draft of the training protocol, released Monday, that “players, coaches and support teams must be screened for infections before they can participate in the activity.” .

The Match Protocol states that “Players and umpires must be screened for contamination prior to a match. The home team will provide a referee evaluation before the match. “

The test consists of obtaining a series of questions from a doctor about the general state and specific symptoms, in addition to taking temperature, examining the mouth and throat, palpating (feeling with hands and fingers) of the lymph nodes and auscultating (listening) lungs.

– A short time ago, the feedback from the Institute of Public Health (FHI) was that it would not be recommended to have a testing regimen in healthy players, but only in a few weeks the testing capacity has increased a lot, so the attitude towards it has changed, reveals elite director Lise Klaveness at NFF to VG.

Meetings will now be held between the Football Association and the FHI regarding possible tests.

– We will discuss that point again with FHI. However, it may be appropriate to take a player entry test. Here we follow the advice we receive, says Klaveness and elaborates:

– At the moment, the protocol establishes that a medical control of the players will be carried out at the level of the symptoms, but now the testing capacity has become so good that we have an agreement to discuss it further. It is a classic example of this continued work.

VG has been in contact with FHI to evaluate soccer players, but no one wanted to comment on the matter as the issue has not been fully investigated.

In Germany, the best clubs have been testing players and support teams for the early start of the full training activity. Erling Braut Haaland and the rest of the Borussia Dortmund camp tested negative, but on Friday it emerged that two Cologne players and one person in the club’s support unit tested positive.

If a player in Norwegian football must be detected as covid-19, he must be isolated and followed by the health and care service.
