– The fire department or people with knowledge of fire would never have approved setting fire to anything inside a house where there are people on the second floor, says the participant of “Farmen” who left the program a few weeks ago.

On Wednesday’s episode of “The Farm,” contestant Inger Cecilie Grønnerød (47) decided to sabotage the weekly allowance in a very controversial way.

With a camera crew in tow, she entered the house and lit a large embroidery that participants have been working on this week, before leaving the house without turning it off. It all happened while the great farmer Daniel Viem Årdal (30) and the assistant Sindre Nyeng (23) were in the attic of the great farmer on the second floor of the same house.

When the other participants saw what had happened, there was a very bad atmosphere inside the patio.

“Farmen” contestant Nils Kvalvik, who aired from the show a few weeks ago, saw the fire drama and reacts strongly to the fact that the television production allowed this to happen.

He is a firefighter and smoke diver and describes the incident as life threatening.

– The fire department or people with knowledge of fires would never approve of setting fire to something inside a house where there are people on the second floor. I’d like to see that risk assessment. Not least who approved it. The fire department wanted Never approved something like that, he tells VG.

Could explode in flames

Kvalvik believes that if something lights up, there should be an application process in advance. Furthermore, he is of the opinion that competent people should have been present and that the two on the second floor should have known what was about to happen and should have had safe escape routes.

– There can be a big fire in 15 seconds. And here we are talking about furniture that is a hundred years old!

If this person had swept through a curtain or something, the place would have burst into flames. From what I saw, fire dripped from the canvas as the person got out. It is simply a threat to life.

– If you had been at the farm, how would you react?

– He had reacted strongly. Okay, we did stupid things when I was there too, compared to the crown, but I have to say, this is a bit worse, says Kvalvik.

Believe that no one was in danger

Kvalvik is not alone in taking a hard line against television production after the fire drama.

On Wednesday, VG wrote that this week’s big farmer Daniel Viem Årdal (30) and participant Kjetil Kirk (27) told the production that they would report the person who had turned on the police if they did not know who had done it.

Also, many have had opinions about what Grønnerød did in the comment fields on social media.

VG has contacted TV2, who does not want to comment on the case. They refer to statements made to VG on Wednesday.

Later, TV 2 program editor Kathrine Haldorsen said the sabotage was approved by the crew and they knew that Inger Cecilie would sabotage the embroidery by burning a mark or lighting it up.

The program director pointed out that Inger Cecilie had a boiler with water, a fire blanket and a fire extinguisher nearby because they knew what could happen.

– There were people present in the room all the time, and it is important for us to emphasize that Inger Cecilie never endangered anything or anyone with what she did. The situation was under control the entire time. Neither the participants, nor the animals nor the houses were in danger, Haldorsen said.

Kvalvik, who works for the Porsanger fire service, says the extinguisher would be worth zero if it caught fire.

– If a fire spreads immediately, there must be smoke divers present and a safe supply of water. A 10-20 liter bucket would be like urinating in the sea, he says.

However, the former participant of “Farmen” does not know if TV2 can be “taken” by what he did.

– It depends a bit on Daniel and Sindre who were in the attic of the great farmer. If Daniel had chosen to go to review, an investigation would be launched where it would have been revealed if the channel and the producer are on dry land. But it’s doubtful that he dares, says Kvalvik.

Could change the result of “The Farm”

Although TV2 says that no one was in danger, they acknowledge that there was a misunderstanding between Grønnerød and the camera crew about who should turn off the embroidery. In the end, production took embroidery out of the house.

Kvalvik criticizes the fact that production is “mixed” in this way. He considers that the production gave an alibi to Inger Cecilie or “IC” as the other participants of “Farmen” call it, since they themselves ended up putting out the fire and the other participants did not know who had lit the embroidery.

– Imagine if Daniel had chosen Asle as the first champion because he thought Asle was behind? The whole result of the Farm could have been different due to the fact that the production covered the IC, he says.

– If the IC itself had to put out the fire, it would most likely have been exposed. So, it is only by chance that IC was chosen as the first champion, he concludes.

– Not involved in the episode

NOT INVOLVED: Ringerike Fire and Rescue Service Fire Chief Terje Reginiussen tells VG that they were not involved in the incident that took place in Wednesday’s episode. Photo: Private

This year’s “Farmen” farm is located on a lush peninsula in Ringerike. Ringerike Fire and Rescue Service Fire Chief Terje Reginiussen tells VG that they were not involved in the incident that took place in Wednesday’s episode.

– I cannot comment on the situation because we were not involved either before or after, he tells VG.

Reginiussen says the Ringerike fire and rescue service conducted an inspection of the farm prior to filming. This is to see what the production had done in relation to fire safety.

– After the inspection, he reassured us. We weren’t worried about normal recording. But like I said, we know very little about the episode that was shown on television, he says.

VG has contacted Inger Cecilie Grønnerød, who will not comment on the case. She feels this is a case between Kvalvik and TV2.
