Patrice Evra (39) said directly on Sky Sports that rumors about Wilfried Zahas (27) alleged affair with the daughter of Manchester United manager David Moyes were the reason he did not get a chance at the club.
– We all know that Wilfried Zaha, with all due respect, is better than Crystal Palace. He’s an electric player, Evra said from the Sky Sports studio as the channel showed television footage of the Crystal Palace star’s warm-up ahead of Saturday’s clash at Old Trafford.
Then he dropped the bomb:
– I think what ruined his career at Manchester United was that he had this true or false romance with David Moyes’s daughter.
– I remember he played every game in the run-up, but when the news came out, he was out and disappeared. For a player who is, and will be, a great threat to Manchester United, Evra continued.

He was right in predicting Zaha’s danger on the field. The forward scored first on the penalty that gave Palace 2-0, and then followed with the 3-1 goal that punctured the game.
But Sky Sports later in the broadcast came out and apologized for the statements to Evra. Host Kelly Cates read the following message:
– We must clarify a comment made earlier in the broadcast, which indicated that there may have been a relationship between Wilfried Zaha and David Moyes’ daughter. We understand that Zaha has never met Moyes’s daughter and that Patrice’s claims are incorrect. We apologize.
Evra was a left back for Manchester United from 2006 to 2014 and was therefore at the club when Zaha was hired from Crystal Palace. Alex Ferguson was a coach when Zaha was bought, but in the summer of 2013 Moyes took over the legend. Zaha received minimal playing time and was on loan at Cardiff before returning to the Palace, first on loan and then permanently in February 2015.
He only managed two league games at Manchester United, and rumors that Evra made have been circulating ever since. Zaha debunked the rumors last summer in a conversation with former Manchester United player Rio Ferdinand on her show “The Locker Room.”
– I have not even met the daughter
– There were rumors that I had slept with David Moyes’s daughter. I was thinking, “What nonsense is this?” It was hard enough for me not to play and I was alone in Manchester. Think about it. It was very stressful for me when the rumors started to spread. I was 19 years old and my Twitter account caught fire. I had no one to talk to and no one at the club helped me, Zaha said.
– I mean the club failed you, because you should have talked to someone in management. They have to make sure he doesn’t feel guilty, Ferdinand said on the same show.
Like Evra, Ferdinand was at Manchester United until the summer of 2014.
– To this day, there are people who believe this to be true, and I have not even met their daughter, said Zaha with resignation.
Today, incredibly, Evra was turned on under the old rumors, and it is questionable if the Frenchman will return as a Sky Sports expert immediately.
P.S.! David Moyes was fired from Manchester United in April 2014, long before Zaha left the club for good.
