A skating rink in downtown Skien was completely damaged in a fire Saturday night, NTB writes.
– It is burning in a skating rink, which is an old sports hall. It’s in a light hat, the whole room, says service manager Anders Hæg at the 110 Southeast interchange.
Police first reported the fire shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.
Firefighters from Skien, Porsgrunn, Bamble and Larvik work with firefighters. All the free teams and the Red Cross fire department are also in place, says Hæg.
There is a lot of smoke in the area. The nearest addresses were evacuated due to the danger of new fires, but the neighbors can now return to their homes, the police report at 11:17 pm. It is still recommended to have the windows closed.

Hæg says that they do their best to put out the fire, but that it looks like the room will probably burn out completely.
– The cause of the fire is completely unknown to us, adds the service manager.
Operations manager Kvaal says they don’t know what caused the fire and they keep all possibilities open.
– We are interested in advice in case someone has seen something special, but we have nothing to suggest either one or the other.
