Zineb Bensouda (26) says it’s a bit overwhelming to play Ola Halvorsen’s flirtation in the popular comedy series “The First Time Service.”
Yesterday the last five episodes of the series were released. When the first five episodes came out, NRK reported wild ratings on the popular comedy series.
In the series, well-known comedian Herman Flesvig plays various characters that he has created himself, and in recent episodes, popular character Ola Halvorsen has begun to take an interest in the series’ sergeant.
And what seems to be evolving as a romance between the two has become a small topic of conversation on social media.
Work as a dj
The sergeant, nicknamed “angel” in the series, is played by Zineb Bensouda, 26, from Tøyen in Oslo.
For VG, she says it was great to have the role on the show.
– I was able to interpret her exactly how I wanted, so it felt very real to be in the role, she says and describes the character as “strong”, “kind” and “mysterious”.
The 26-year-old is studying peace and conflict studies daily, while actually being a musician. Earlier this year, she had her debut artist performance on by: Larm, and is currently working on an EP release.
– In a way, it’s the closest I am to acting, he says.
Will contribute to diversity
Bensouda says that “The First Time Service” is the first television recording she has ever been on and that therefore it is very strange, but at the same time fun, to see herself on television now.
– It’s a bit overwhelming, but absolutely fun and educational to be part of such a popular series, he says.
When asked if she has ambitions to become an actress, she replies “hmm maybe?”
In any case, Bensouda hopes to contribute to Norwegian films and series that contain more women with minority backgrounds.
– We need more diversity on television, he says.
– Unable to hold the mask
She describes filming the series as an unforgettable experience.
– It was fun both in front of and behind the camera, and it didn’t feel like we were at work, she says.
She believes that the series has become so popular because many can relate to the different characters, and that it is always fun when stereotypes are brought to the fore.
– The only scene in which Ola Halvorsen “jumps” to the doll was the funniest. We laughed so hard it was almost impossible to keep the mask on, he says.
