Two people from the Follo Local Medical Center were diagnosed with coronary heart disease on Friday. The trace of the infection has revealed that another five people are infected and the municipal administration fears that the number will increase.
It was Østlandets Blad who mentioned the case for the first time.
Nordre Follo Mayor Hanne Opdan will not say whether the people who have been diagnosed with the infection are employees or patients, or both.
– We don’t want to say anything about who he is, for privacy reasons. That is the strategy we have chosen, says the rapporteur.
She confirms that all seven are affiliated with the center.
There are two people in the municipal emergency department (KAD) room in the reception room of the Follo Local Medical Center who were first diagnosed with an infection. The center is located in the building of the old ski hospital.

Municipal Chief Physician Kerstin Anine Johnsen Myhrvold in Nordre Follo tells VG that post-outbreak infection monitoring at the center will continue throughout the weekend.
– We open now. This is a vulnerable group of patients, and therefore it is important to detect infection and prevent a major outbreak. We test all employees and patients who have been in contact with the infected people during the relevant period, Myhrvold says.
Opdan says he’s happy that the infection detection work has resulted in quickly finding and evaluating the people who had been in contact with the two who were first diagnosed with the infection.
– Our infection control team worked effectively to find everyone who had been close to each other. They have done a great job of limiting the situation, he says.

The mayor emphasizes that there may be several infected people.
– We are prepared for this to be the beginning of a major outbreak.
The municipal chief says that the center has a reception center and an emergency unit.
The patients are usually elderly people who have been discharged from the hospital and are returning to the municipalities, or patients who need treatment without the need for hospitalization. The average stay is three days.
– The situation is undesirable, since it is a vulnerable group of patients. We do not want the infection to spread to the older age groups and therefore we work intensively with infection tracking. But we are prepared for the fact that more people may be infected, Myhrvold says.
