Almost exactly a year ago, Gamer.no wrote about a new game added to the Lord of the Rings universe starring the iconic character Gollum. Now we finally have more information about the game.

German site Gamestar (via Eurogamer) had an early and exclusive glimpse of Lord of the Rings: Gollum recently, with screenshots showing us some of what we have in store.

According to Gamestar, the upcoming Lord of the Rings game is first and foremost a preview of action elements, and judging from some of the screens, the game seems to emphasize Gollum’s divisive personality as a prominent mechanical element of the game.

– Big challenge

The game will launch for PC and the next generations of consoles from Sony and Microsoft, that is, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum is being developed by Daedalic Entertainment, the studio behind the Deponia series, in collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises, which owns the rights to the works of Tolkien Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit.

In a previous interview with PC Gamer, studio manager Carsten Fichtelmann told Lord of the Rings: Gollum, an action adventure where action begins shortly after Sméagol (as he was originally called) finds the ring, and the conflict Internal between Sméagol and Gollum becomes an important subject. in the game

Fichtelmann stated that tackling such a familiar character and story is a big challenge, thanks in part to Peter Jackson’s film trilogy, but he felt the team had found a solution that fans would appreciate.

Daedalic Entertainment has announced that the game will be released in 2021, but a more specific date is still awaited.
