Rosenborg, Europa League | Rosenborg advanced in the Europa League qualifiers

Anders Konradsen first sent Rosenborg in the lead, then he was sent off. But he still held out to advance through Trøndelag.

ROSENBORG – ALANYASPOR 1-0:

After a docile first half, Rosenborg took the lead in Europa League qualifying against Turkish Alanyaspor by Anders Konradsen.

Just ten minutes later, the same man was sent to the shower with some hesitation after incurring his second yellow card for the night. So in many ways it was a match against the clock for Trøndelag in the final 25 minutes in Lerkendal on Thursday night.

Even though the guests created good chances with one more man on the pitch, they kept the home team away and are thus ready for the final qualifying round.

Merciless Rekdal

During the break, former national team captain Kjetil Rekdal was ruthless in his analysis of Rosenborg and believed that the Trøndelag team has nothing to do with the European Cup.

Rekdal spoke after a very meek first part.

– If you take a blue Lada and color it red, you don’t drive faster. My point is that if Åge (Hareide) goes to the locker room to scold them now, it won’t improve. They have done the best they could. We’ve seen for a long time that RBK lacks intensity, pace, aggressiveness, and interaction. This is the level they have been at in the last two group matches they have been to. They have been played in every game and have taken two points in 12 games. Rosenborg must build a whole new team, says Rekdal in the VGTV studio.

– Now Rosenborg is mending a team that will never be as good as they want. As seen now, RBK has nothing to do in Europe.

Trøndelag got up a bit in the second half, but after Konradsen was sent off, it was mainly about defending the lead, rather than chasing more goals.

In the next qualifying round, Rosenborg will face the great Dutch team PSV Eindhoven. The Dutch had little trouble winning their match against Mura.

Few chances before the break

Rosenborg opened the match well and managed to stay on the ball a bit, while Turkey’s guests stayed low on the field initially and looked at the match image a bit.

However, the home team failed to create the whole world and Alanyaspor gradually got better and better in the match. The guest created some dangerous opportunities.

At first Adam Bareiro was in a good position at the back post after a quarter of an hour, but Tore Reginiussen was cleared. Shortly after, Francois Moubandje struck a useful pole that Bareiro chased from the back room. Goalkeeper André Hansen, however, came out quickly.

There were not exactly the fireworks of a football game in Lerkendal the first 45 minutes and they were long between the big highlights.

However, five minutes before the break, Kristoffer Zachariassen had a good chance. He picked up the ball and sped towards the goal. However, former Premier League stopper Steven Caulker smelled danger and blocked the Rosenborg player.

Just before the teams entered the locker room, the biggest opportunity of the round came. Alanyaspor played as a center back on the field and the ball whimpered at Davidson. He crashed from about 16 meters and the finish hit Hansen’s post in RBK’s cage.

It was 0-0 at halftime, but the guests had been closer to scoring.

Goal and red card

After the break, the home side looked a bit sharper, and in the 58th minute Anders Konradsen put Trøndelag ahead. Rosenborg landed a free kick in a good position and the Danish Carlo Holse took the field. Fatih Aksoy missed what he had to clear and Konradsen served in his place, who put the ball in the goal only with the goalkeeper.

A tying goal seemed certain in the 63rd minute when Turks attacked down the left wing, but Jürgen Schneider managed to stop the ball outside the net. Salih Ucan loaded the cannon and fired from about 16 meters away. The shot was extremely hard, but it came out right outside.

Soon after, Rosenborg was reduced to ten men. The midfielder received his second yellow card for an arm raised in the face of an opponent and therefore had to leave the field. The television replay showed that the yellow card seemed a bit cheap.

After the expulsion, most of it was naturally about the guests from Turkey. Alanyaspor created danger upon danger, but Rosenborg remained usable.

It got a bit chaotic behind Rosenborg in the final minutes, but the Turks never managed to create the absolutely huge opportunities and thus ended 1-0 in Trondheim.

In the end, guest Khouma Babacar was sent off and in the last seconds it was ten minus ten in Lerkendal.
