Without the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree, Christmas in New York will not be the same. For many, it is the heart of the metropolis at Christmas.

As sure as Christmas comes every year, it is the giant fir that takes pride of place each year.

– 2020 continues to deliver

But many say that this year’s tree looks as good as the rest of this year … not good. After Rockefeller Center tweeted that this year’s Christmas tree was in place, many pointed to the irony on Twitter and Facebook.

– Can the Rockefeller Center tree look worse? 2020 continues to deliver, writes @RexChapman on Twitter.

– The Rockefeller Center tree, like the rest of us, has really happened a bit this year, writes another.

Long tradition

The tree is of the Norway Spruce type, which is usually cut in the US This year the tree is about 23 meters tall and comes from Oneonta in New York.

– Norway Spruce is the English name for Spruce abief. Fir grows in eastern parts of Europe. The explanation for the name Norway Spruce was probably given to the spruce species in its day because the trees were imported from Norway, botanist Egil Ingvar Aune tells Dagbladet.

To defend against this year’s criticism of the tree in New York, Rockefeller Center responded on Twitter.

“Do you look so good after a two day trip, maybe?”

But even 2020 also offers beautiful stories out of the ordinary.

During the tree transport work, a little owl was found on the tree. It survived hopefully and is now safely kept at the Ravensbeard Wildlife Center.
