Rosenborg and other football clubs may triple the number of spectators from October 12, from 200 to 600, but the club’s leader, Tove Moe Dyrhaug, would prefer to see the number multiplied by ten for the Trøndelag team.

The Minister of Culture and Gender Equality, Abid Raja (V), announced on Wednesday that up to 600 spectators can be admitted to soccer matches and other outdoor events from 12 October. Indoors, the 200-person limit still applies.

– I think it is good that they go from 200 to 600 spectators, but we have 24 entrances, four restaurants and eight different sections in Lerkendal, which has a capacity of 21,400 spectators, Rosenborg leader Tove Moe Dyrhaug tells VG.

– We had not had problems with 6000-8000 spectators, adds.

She emphasizes that this is entirely possible within current infection control rules. Previously, the boss of Vålerenga, Erik Espeseth, characterized the maximum limit of 200 spectators as a “logical deficiency all the way”.

– I think rather a percentage of capacity should be allowed. At least we have the opportunity to receive many more. For fans, it is positive that it increases by 400, but financially it doesn’t mean much, says Dyrhaug.

Abid Raja says that part of the concern lies outside the sports facilities.

– We also have to think about how they get to and from the stadium, he says.

He believes that you have to be careful not to establish a behavior that forces you to close again.

Norwegian Top Football leader Leif Øverland, on the other hand, welcomes more viewers with a thank you.

– We are very happy that the government is gradually increasing the number of spectators. It means a lot to our fans, Øverland says.

– For clubs, this will mean that they will still follow very strict infection control routines, but now with the possibility of three separate groups with 200 people, Øverland says.

Raja said they are continuing a careful reopening to see development, before opening more. The 600 people allowed in an outdoor arena must still be divided into cohorts of up to 200 people.

– We have set October 12 as the start date so that the municipalities have time to prepare. Municipalities must monitor and close if there is an outbreak of infection, says Raja.
