Premier League, Soccer | Lampard responds to Klopp’s statements

– For some clubs, it does not seem important how uncertain the future looks, where they are owned by states and oligarchs, Jurgen Klopp said recently. Now Frank Lampard strikes back.

It was tough on the sidelines when Liverpool and Chelsea met in the penultimate round of the Premier League last season.

Frank Lampard reacted strongly to the Liverpool bench and then warned the newly crowned league champions not to get too arrogant.

In the run-up to the current Premier League season, there have also been signs of friction between the managers of the major clubs.

Jurgen Klopp and José Mourinho are among those who have criticized the competitors’ use of money for this year’s season.

Klopp: – We are a different club

Although Mourinho affirmed that Lionel Messi could only sign for a club that does not respect the rules of Financial Fair Play, Jürgen Klopp made the following statement:

– We live in a world full of uncertainty. For some clubs, however, it does not seem so important how uncertain the future is, since they are owned by states and oligarchs. That’s the truth.

– We are a different club. We reached the Champions League final two years ago, we won it last year and we became Premier League champions last season, being the club that we are, being governed as this club is governed. We cannot change it overnight and suddenly say that we will behave like Chelsea, who have signed many new players.

Lampard: – Liverpool have spent a lot of money

At a press conference related to Monday’s meeting with Brighton, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard confronted the remarks.

– The reality is that, apart from perhaps Leicester, which was an incredible story, most of the clubs that have won the league in modern times have recruited well and at a high financial level, Lampard says according to the Daily Mail.

– You can only go through Liverpool players. Van Dijk, Alisson, Fabinho, Keita, Mané, Salah. There are incredible players, who came with an expensive price. Liverpool have been doing it for a long time.

Chelsea, for their part, after a year of refusing the transfer, brought in Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech, Thiago Silva and Ben Chilwell this summer.

– What we have done after the ban is address the situation and try to improve ourselves. We know that Liverpool have spent large sums. We know they have a great coach and we know they have great players. The smart thing Liverpool have done is to believe in their coach and his system for several years. It’s a great story, but it’s a story where they’ve spent a lot of money on players, Lampard concludes.

Chelsea opens the away series against Brighton on Monday night at 9.15pm.
